Topic: Travelling Alone | |

A couple of years ago I got the travel bug and couldn't find anyone to go with. I went to the Dominican alone, although I met my travel agent and hung out with him for a couple of days. I decided however that travelling alone wasn't as much fun as I thought it would be. I decided to go to NYC next and this time (alone again) signed up for a couple of massage courses. I do massage and reiki for a living and spent four days being massaged and expanding my repertoire of healing skills, as well as meeting some locals and doing some things that were not touristy. If I travel again alone I will do it again. It's a great way to see new places and learn new things too! I also arranged on the NYC trip to meet a couple of men that I knew from the States through dating sites (I'd talked to both of them for years and previously met one of them in Toronto). I had dinner with both of them. As long as you do it with safety in mind (meeting in a public place etc) then it's a great way to travel without being alone! Hi i just did my solo travel right now, crossing 3 countries then finally arrive here in Phuket. Sometime it's good to go alone, it means you're brave enough to face the world by your own. :) |

Find myself traveling alone also ... Touring the USA , but eventually want to see the four corners of the world .

I think it's important to travel alone sometimes. Other people can join you if they want to. Always thought of backpacking outside the US and stay somewhere I never thought I would.

I traveled all over the US on business. That really wasn't much fun but I did see a lot of fun places.
Later I joined a ski club and traveled the world with friends I met there. It was a much better way to travel. I then knew enough travelers to pick and choose places to see, mostly combined with scuba diving. That is a world of fun. My advice. If you don't know anyone with which to travel, join a club that has the type of people you generally like. If the club is big enough, you WILL find people of a like mind. |

Awesome advice, I'll keep this in mind for when I do travel. If I hang out with people along the way, I'm sure it'll be really cool. |

The only thing I worry about is safety. I have traveled alone to several destinations, but it would be nice to not feel afraid sometimes when all I want to do is wander the streets of Barcelona (or wherever I'm at) at night and people watch.

Travel all the time alone on business. As long as I'm busy with the task at hand, there is no loneliness. It's only when I have to, sometimes, stay an extra 2-3 days just for a deal to go through it sucks. Because of the nature of my business I can't interact freely with strangers.
