You can download Kaspersky full version trial, as that will be good cover for you in the meantime. Remember to delete Avg totally from your computer though?

AVG does also have a Free Version of their AV-application!
Might have to hunt around a bit on their site!
Also, quite a bit of AV-Freeware on this Site!
Definitely can trust it,have used it for years!

Just FYI: the free versions DO NOT scan on the fly.

As well as Avast I would recommend spybot search and destroy. it's a free anti ad ware and spy ware program. They do have a thing where you can donate to help support them. But it's not required and it's a pretty good program.

I have had Avast's free version tell me that a site was loaded with viruses before so it evidently does scan on the fly.

I am VERY happy with the free level of Advast so far. My son recommended it to me after the Navy personel records were breached and his computer head recommended it. I am careful about installing updates, opening mail and links from unknown users, and use strong password protocals but so far so good.

Word to the wise you can sometimes get an auto debit on security programs and that is a nasty surprise when they hit your checking account at the highest price for the current version.

Protestions from internet - go for # 1 protection - Bitdefender Total Security - best durn thing I have found - out does all others crapy protections. Jerry

Avast is probably pick of the pile although you may want to look at Ad-Aware (from Lavasoft)...i run it on my 2nd computer and it is excellent

To the OP:
If you go with the free version of 'Avast' after you've already run the purchased version, you'll want to uninstall the original version and THEN install the free version.
It's the same for those passing from free to paid versions as well.

Zone Alarm also has a free version of a firewall and bug catcher; Malwarebytes (also a free version) can run side by side with it and they will not conflict. Both offer free definition updates daily as well. :)

Good luck with that,

Daddy

Hi,
I could recommend Malwarebytes 2. There's a free version available that runs scans, and also includes an anti-rootkit. I've been using it for a few years now, and have no problems with it.

You can simply do a web search and between the myriads of software...live on trial versions. A word tho..check with your o/s i.e. windows, Linux etc. and in their update/store will have all compatable software. Cheers!frustrated smokin

Try digging a moat round it and filling it with some crocodiles from the zoo and peckish piranhas you smuggled out of the zoo in your handbag.

or you can download various trial versions, as has been mentioned, like NIS valid for one month remember and download (the uninstall tool)

i am not certain these all still conflict but your be to do a full uninstall of each trail version as you move to the next- should keep you going for a few months and Amazon tends to have the best prices
