NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Authorities say a bar owner in Nashville told police he shot a country music singer in self-defense at his club.
Pit and Barrel owner Chris Ferrell says he got into an argument with musician Wayne Mills, who was smoking a cigarette in a no-smoking area around 5 a.m. Saturday after the bar had closed. The Tennessean (http://tnne.ws/1cKpENz) reports Mills died at a hospital. Police are looking into Ferrell's claim of self-defense. Michael Scott, who was among a group of friends with Mills, told WSMV-TV (http://bit.ly/IenblO) they attended a George Jones tribute concert Friday night and then went drinking at a couple of bars before the Pit and Barrel. Mills, a native of Arab, Ala., toured with the Wayne Mills Band, which has played college towns for more than 15 years. The sign said no smoking damit! ![]() |
