The man acquitted of criminal charges in the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin was arrested Monday after deputies responded to a disturbance call at a house in Florida, authorities said.

Former neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman was being transported and booked into jail, according to a Seminole County Sheriff's Office statement. Authorities provided few other details, and it was not immediately known what charge he faced. Messages for comment left by The Associated Press with the sheriff's office were not immediately returned.

After all this time, I would think that Zimmerman would learn to behave himself. Instead, he threatens someone again and gets put in jail. Anyone surprised?

George Zimmerman, the man acquitted earlier this year of criminal charges in the fatal shooting of Trayvon Martin, was charged with assault and battery Monday after he allegedly threatened his girlfriend with a shotgun, authorities said.

George Zimmerman was charged Monday with felony aggravated assault after allegedly pointing a shotgun at his girlfriend, according to Dennis Lemma, chief deputy with the Seminole County, Florida, Sheriff's Office.

Zimmerman, who was acquitted earlier this year of murdering teenager Trayvon Martin, was arrested after the incident at the home of Samantha Scheibe, Lemma said. He also was charged with two misdemeanors -- domestic violence battery and criminal mischief -- in connection with the same incident, Lemma said.
