When 2 armed and masked criminals robbed a local Reading, Pennsylvania store and tried to get away, an armed citizen pulled out his own gun and told the crooks to wait for police to arrive. But instead the 2 robbers aimed their guns at the private citizen and that’s when they were shot by this gun carrying hero.

But now the families of the 2 deceased crooks want “justice” for their loved ones and they are seeking to sue the private citizen for his brave actions. The private citizen’s name is not being released for fears of retaliation.

It’s not fair,” said Virginia Medina, mother of 24-year-old William Medina, who police said robbed Krick’s Korner store alongside 18-year-old Robert De Carr on Monday.

The two men were shot and killed by a private citizen while leaving the store, and family members want to see charges pressed.

“[William] had no right to lose his life over something that man could have called the police for,” said Medina. “He took the law into his own hands and walked away scot-free.”

“How about if people just start running around here, policing the city on their own? How much worse is it going to get?” said Peter Ratel, Medina’s cousin.

The family members said they are hurt by comments suggesting the alleged robbers were “thugs.”

According to Medina, William was “no big hard criminal” and was rather a family-man who loved his young daughter.

Robert De Carr was described similarly by his sister, Taylor De Carr.

“My brother was a good kid,” she told 69 News.

While I’m sure the families of the 2 deceased are hurting from their loss, it does not help their cause to take away any responsibility of their loved ones and take aim at a man who was simply defending his life and trying to stop a crime.

The families are blaming the wrong person all while justifying the act of robbing a store with guns and masks and then threatening to shoot an innocent bystander. The sister said “My brother was a good kid.” Really? So good kids terrify store clerks by pointing loaded guns in their faces. This is the real problem with crime in America. As long as families justify this kind of behavior it will only cause more armed robberies to occur.

Our hats off to this private citizen who had the guts to stop the crime and wait for police, and who also was able and willing to defend himself when his life was threatened. Perhaps the families are so upset because they were really relying on the money the crooks were attempting to steal.

These thugs are dead because of THEIR OWN ACTIONS. And thanks to Pennsylvania’s Castle Doctrine the families will not be able to sue the private citizen in civil court.

Good men??? Armed robbery is what good men do? They got what they would have given the store owner if he had refused to hand over his cash. They could have dropped their weapons and awaited police but they chose to raise weapons on someone who already had sights on them. The community is safer without these "good men".

Perhaps the families, when they get out of prison, should look up this hero who was a great shot.

Dumbasses!

only gun control law that will work

if you are eligible to be president you must be armed

freedom is not free so earn it ---- the armed forces protect overseas
supposedly

it is the citizens responsibility to protect it on the home front

protect your freedoms from terrorist criminals and invasion forces

Oh, BTW they were thugs and good riddance!

Decent people don't go around committing armed robbery and trying to kill someone who is trying to prevent it.

Problem is the growing popularity of not wanting to earn things and not wanting responsibility. Independence is quite synonymous with "freedom" and it's becoming a 4 letter word as it REQUIRES responsibility. Carrying a firearm and learning to protect one's self is a strong act of independence, and therefore a huge responsibility.

That's what they want though. Don't intervene in a crime just run away. Don't try to protect your neighborhood, STFU and run away. A girl getting beaten on the streets by her boyfriend? Run away. An armed robbery? Run away. A suspicious guy wandering your neighborhood? Run away.

Capitulate to the criminals. Give them the high ground. Just run away and let the crime happen. Don't get involved and don't get all heroic just let it happen. If you don't then the law will get you not the criminal. You could and should have just walked away.

It is because no one wants to take responsibility for their actions. You rob someone's house .... and get shot..... tough cookie... too damn bad.

If that happened to me, and some trash's family got into my face or tried to sue me, they would regret it.

The castle doctrine should be a national right. The right to defend yourself is as basic as any other right.
