OK, I downloaded a couple of movies using a torrent site. I can watch them perfectly fine on my computer, but it will not allow me to burn them. I use Nero for burning. And it will act like it is burning and go through the process and all. But my burner is not doing anything, no light no nothing. I have burned other movies to see if it was just my burner, and they worked just fine. It is just these two I am having a problem with. Now mind you at the beginning of the burn process it tells me it is in the wrong format and asks me if I want Nero to change it, I click yes, and it does NOTHING. I waited one day for almost two hours just for it to tell me that the burn failed. Is there a way to burn these movies?

Sounds (?) like a bug in Nero which is specific to the case of changing formats??

Maybe (as a workaround, not a true solution) try first changing formats using another utility (sorry don't know a windows one to recommend) and then let Nero burn from the new format?

Thank you very much. I have no idea how to change formats at all.

First - what is the desired format? Did Nero mention the format it thought it would change them to? And the ones that work, what format were they?

Suppose (just as an example) you want it in avi, but its in mpg. I would google:

software free windows video convert "mpg to avi"

or something like that. Sorry, I don't know windows software for this, I use ffmpeg under Linux. There is a windows port of ffmpeg, but I can't attest to it - you probably want something with a nicer interface.

Download DVDFlicks at http://www.dvdflick.net/download.php

Follow these directions: http://beginwithsoftware.com/videoguides/dvd-flick-guide.html

Good luck.

I believe it is an AVI, I really do not care what format it is, as long as it burns and I can watch it on my DVD player.

Thank you both for your help. You guys are great.

Right click the file, go to properties, it will tell you what the format is. Then go online and get a convertor, to something Nero recognizes.
