Single men can and often do receive communications from ladies based overseas, the paper relationship can escalate quickly, and very soon money is requested for air tickets, hospital expenses or whatever.

The women can me much younger and very beautiful and the men naturally feel flattered and perhaps even experience deep emotional feelings.

Often the advertised profiles are totally made up, and you could well be actually be corresponding with another man!

This fraud is massive and worldwide but a lot of it originates out of Africa. There are numerous internet articles setting out what to look for and how to be on your guard. So I won't go into that here.

On the other hand I guess that the majority of advertisers are genuine.

I'm simply making the point that once you are asked for money please make diligent checks including requesting a copy of your suitor's passport.

After joining this site I was very quickly asked for money. Maybe she was genuine, but I didn't stay around to find out.

Ladies by all means continue to approach overseas men (if they are open to such) but please be prepared to fund your own lives.

I get lots of scammers every single day. Anyone asking for money is a scammer and not genuine. A person that you must met wouldn't have the nerve to ask for money for anything. Also, there are the ones that are just trying to get out of their country so they will use you as a way out. I remember a guy saying he was a General while wearing Sgt stripes. Another who supposedly lived in Florida referred to Hawaii as a foreign country. He asked me send him $4,000 dollars as he lost his company computer at the airport. I did an email check on him and he it was not out of the States. There were lots of red flags so of course he never got a penny from me and I reported him not only on here but to the police.

I don't get why folks go out of country to find love when there are thousands of local people that are easy to meet in safe local public places and you can know who they are.

Do people really have that much money to waste to buy someone that nobody local wants?

Actually I have many friends, both men and women, who have found their partner from outside their country.

My wife was French/Jamaican, so we had family in all three countries.

Also I understand the attraction and practical side as well. Some people (I'm one I guess) don't quite fit some of the mentality of the US mainstreet of values and found it easier to meet someone who didn't have certain preset images as to how life or society works.

This may sound weird but if you hang out with couples who have this kind of mixed culture thing it makes more sense. For example my wife and I never fought about the things we would see a lot of couples fight about.

I'm not saying it's better, just works for some. One thing I would say that was different was we made our own rules and our own world that didn't worry about what the Jones' did.

That makes a lot of sense to me. Maybe it is my experience with such diverse people in American cities. So many different cultures, religions, lifestyles, and at least to some degree permission to have those variances. Maybe that is less possible in some places.

I definitely get the idea of making a marriage/home your personal oasis.

Some of my ideas and values are pretty ridged some pretty fluid. Experience has taught me some rules that seem so oppressive do have basis in reason and other ones just don't hold water when it just gets down to the real nitty gritty of life.

Of course the trick is always figuring out which is which.

Do pretty much believe if you are forcing something to happen then it is really not meant to be if that makes any sense. If two people genuinely love someone across distance they mutually find a solution. Definitely not where one has to lie, cheat, or buy the other into their life.

YES! YES! YES!
Don't mind them that's why they keep on divorcing themselves.
