As much as I like the Dallas Cowboys, I think I love college football even more. My favorite team is Tennessee, of course I think the SEC is the best football conference top-to-bottom year after year. I think the Big Ten sucks(just my opinion, folks, please don't take it personally). Notre Dame is my most hated football team. Captain, I love your blue field, but wouldn't want to see them everywhere. One of a kind is fine. Good luck to Boise State, I think it's great when teams from "small conferences" go out and beat up on the "big boys" of college football.
One thing about college football I don't like: Slotting the bowls. One thing I always loved about bowl season was the fact that you could end up playing anyone. Now it's like, "the 3rd team from the SEC vs the 2nd team from the ACC". I loved the randomness of the bowls choosing anyone they wanted. Every year there were a bunch of fresh matchups. You could see Tennessee vs Boise State, for instance. Now, there's almost no chance to see matchups like that any more. |

even though i'm a wolverine fan(BIG TEN)i'd have to agree with you about the SEC knoxman. i heard a hypothetical conversation on a sports show the other day on how far USC would go if they had to play in the SEC.
i don't think he'll win but one analyst had ian johnson in his preseason heisman hunt. |

Kingbreeze:
The SEC might not have the best team in the country year after year, but the reason people think it's the toughest is because, while they don't always have the best team, the bad teams in the SEC are usually much better than the worst teams in other conferences. Look at Vanderbilt. Worst or right near it every year. Yet watch them play the best of the SEC. You'd think they were a great team. They play Florida and Tennessee tough every year. Personally, I'd love to see them have a great multi-year run. Without a bowl appearance since 1982, they deserve it. RandomX: I think it's a combination of two things: 1-Fulmer's riding his big contract & living off his 1998 championship. 2-Coaching-wise, the game has simply passed him by. The trouble is, if Fulmer goes, they'll hire David Cutcliff to be head coach. He's a student of Fulmer, and that's hardly a positive. Tennessee needs a new mind with new ideas to get them back to an elite level. One more note: Isn't it funny that UT fans constantly make fun of Alabama because they always want to hire coaches with Bama ties, yet when someone's mentioned as a new coach here who doesn't have Big Orange ties, fans scream bloody murder. |

Who is willing to put odds that my Broncos win the conference for the sixth straight year?

Broncos are ranked 23 in the nation. Who feels this is the right place for them to start?

I don't believe in pre-season polls, Captain. Look what happened to Auburn a few years back, thanks to pre-season polls. Oh, I'll buy some preview books(Sporting News is the best,IMHO), but as official polls(AP, coaches), I'd like to see them wait till the middle of October to start them. So, I can't really answer your question about Boise State's ranking. But I will say that they'll probably be a top 15 team at the end.
I love college football preview magazines. But I absolutely REFUSE to buy any that double as a betting guide(Jim Feist, ect.) |

This is the day that will answer a lot of questions about the season. Game 1 against Weber State. Go Broncos.

Go Broncos! Is the game on TV? I'm ready for college football.
Remember, college football on a blue field is still college football. I'd love to see U of Tennessee play on it one game. Maybe some day when we're tired of scheduling such "heavyweights" as Louisiana-Laffyette . Work on it, Captain, do your magic. I'd LOVE to see a Tennessee/Boise State home and away series. It'd be a couple of great games! |

BSU 56, Weber State 7.
This was the opening performance all bsu fans were hoping for. We will have to see what the polls have to say later. And who knows who will play who in a bowl game. It could very well be Boise State and Tennesee in a bowl game. |
|
|
|
BSU is ranked 20th in the USA poll. Good place to start.
|
|
|
|
BSU rises to 4-1 with a 58-0 win over a division team. They are headed in the right direction again, but next Sunday they play Nevada. Should be a good game on ESPN.

Wow. What a game. My Broncos just won in the fourth overtime 69-67. How cool is that.
