If we knew we were going to be a single parent, would we have tried marriage? I do not think many people plan on being single parents.

I have been a single mom since 2006. Every year my kids get older and I think to myself, when my kids get this old I will be happily married. I just get stronger and persevere. Just focus this time on being the best dad. Your kid(s) need you!

Welcome to mingle2 flowerforyou I hope you find what you are looking for. My advice is to fill out your profile a little more, get involved in the forums/games, be yourself and have fun! flowers

Hey man I feel your pain.

My mom was a single parent.

I have been a single parent for 15 years of 1 daughter.

I realized I was going to be a single parent when I informed my daughter's father that I was pregnant. We had both planned the pregnancy, but he just left one day and never looked back, not even a sorry.

Both myself and my daughter have been very happy because I would not allow either one of us to feel sorry for ourselves.

For years after she was born, I became very content with not having a significant other to share my life with but as she has grown older and more independent, well I have craved companionship and closeness so that is why I added my profile to mingle2.

Things will get better for you and your child/children so please keep your faith and incorporate it in every aspect of your lives.

Hang in there you will do fine. And so will your kids. I am sorry for your early woes but you can settle into this and give your kids a good life if you set your mind to it.

I know for a fact you are not the only single dad's in your home town because have family there who are.

There is strength in numbers. Put a message in one of your free newspapers and have a Custodial Dad's gathering in one of their beautiful parks or meet at one of the school or hospital cafeteria's. You get a small group going they will probably give you a regular meeting room and help you spread the word.

Same goes for Custodial Moms or mixed groups. Good luck
