I saw a woman who had 2 of her three sons killed in Iraq by IED's. Didnt have a chance to defends theirselves. They pulled the last one out and sent him home before he was killed.

What brave young poor youngin will take his place.(Volunteer? LOL) Who next will sacrifice their life so 99% of all Americans can sit on their ass talking about what a great cause it is!

There are less than 1/2 of 1% joining the service today! That means less than 1/2 of 1% are sacrificing for this great cause!

I'm for it as well, but you are right, I do not believe I can do it. It seems unlikely that I will ever know. But I will always believe that talking can work sometimes. Some people are much more talented in this arena...

I have a friend, he's an ex-marine. He's a bodyguard. He's a fairly big but not huge. He used to be a bouncer in a very large, very rowdy club here in Miami. He still fills in occaisionally, he tells me "for fun". I have seen much larger, drunk (and possibly high) men who are ready to fight or even are in the midst of fighting and he goes up to them and he talks to them.

I do not know what he says. But they become calm. It is a bizarre thing to witness. I have seen it twice and others have told me they used to see it at least once a week. When I ask him what he says he cannot tell me. I just talk to them, he says, I just listen.

Surely there are others with these kind of skills- how to find, nurture and use them? As I have said before, I think there could be more effort to do so...
