Catherine had been looking for this kind of work for the longest time, she was so happy she had been invited for the interview, she was a little nervous but she had always known this was the kind of work for her, you could say it was kind of a guidance role if you like,she loved helping people, giving her time to anyone who needed it,after all she had been through so many things in her life who better to guide others and steer them away from similar situations and painful outcomes,catherine was such a jolly warm happy person considering all of her lifes trials,it had taken her a long time to wise up to things and steer her life in the right direction but she had got there in the end, she had decided a long time ago she wanted to help vulnerable children and ladies that had suffered abuse and violence as this was one of the biggest consistences she had been through and come out a survivor the other side.
Catherine walked to the interview room full of excitement and eagerness, she knocked the door with a firm positive knock, "Come in catherine" the new boss called, and catherine walked in with confidence,"Sit down, and tell me why you feel you would be the best candidate to fill this role" the boss said, so catherine sat down and began to explain to the boss some of the life experiences she had been through, and her love of people, and her need to work with vulnerable people to give them the guidance and care she herself had failed to recieve, the boss listened intently and replied " ok Catherine, im happy with your interview so im goung to give you a trial period, and if all goes well and were both happy then this full time position will be yours", catherine smiled polietly and replied enthusiastically " i wont let you down boss i will be the best guidance counsellor youve ever employed", with a smile the boss said "i like your enthusiam and empathy you have for people catherine, your first client is a lady named sara, she was sexually abused by her father when she was younger, and abuse seems to have continued following her through her life, shes been repeatedly raped and now is finding it impossible to trust people, to emplore any kind of relationships with men, shes frightened of the world and has hidden herself away like a hermit, withdrew from the world and humankind as such, sorry to throw you in at the deep end but this lady is an urgent case, and really needs help before she attempts anything silly, do you think you can work with this lady catherine?, do you think you can help her, get through to her guide her to a better future, enable her with the right tools to move forward with strength and change the patterning of her life?",Catherine sat still for a few moments pondering over this ladys life, and the things she had faced, and the blackhole she was now in, then she replied" well its going to be a challenge, this ladys been through a lot, but i think with time i can get through to her, help her and guide her to a better path to follow, i would like very much to try boss".
A few days later catherine was sat with sara, she began talking to sara, explaining who she was and what she did, but sara still sat with her head hung down, disintrested, distant and mute, so catherine tried again, she stroked saras hair and said " let me help you, i have been where you have been,the things that have happned to you are terrible, but you dont have to let your father or the other men who have hurt you keep winning,you dont have to be defined by thier actions, with my help and guidance i will help you find trust in people again, i will show you how to protect yourself, i will help you find your own strength, together we can help you live again, regain your confidence, please work with me, sara let me help you", sara got up on the couch lay down buried her head in the cushions and closed her eyes, still not speaking a word, so catherine said" ok sara you sleep and i will come round tomorow and we will try again, you may have given up on yourself, but i dont intend to give up on you no matter how long it takes, i will help you, you will be happy again sara this i promise you", and with that catherine left.
Catherines bossed called her in to the office and asked " hi catherine how is it goin with sara have you made any headway yet?", catherine looked at him and replied" not yet boss i tried for an hour the other day but to no avail i must be honest, shes far to withdrawn, she never heard me, i kept trying, i even stroked her hair, she felt that because she scratched her head in irritataion, i think its going to take longer than i thought, you will give me the chance to keep working with her wont you?, i know i will get through eventually", her boss looked at her with a smile and replied"Yes catherine your the perfect guide to work alongside sara, you have the next fifty years to help and guide her, well done, i watched over you and i was very pleased with what i saw".
