A limited strike for no purpose other than the sake of politics, as is clear here, is like kicking a beehive and expecting to walk away without getting stung.
While expecting the bees to just accept it.
It doesn't work.
Those bees will become pissed off and swarm out of that beehive and sting you and everyone else around you.
If you are not prepared to annihilate the beehive than don't kick the beehive.

If Obama does decide to go for a limited strike on Syria, all he will have done is squandered resources.
As Iran and Russia will likely resupply Assad within a couple of months.
Assad and the rest of the world knows that Obama is full of the s word when it comes to foreign policy and will not take him credibly even with a limited strike.
In the end Assad would likely gas even more innocent people in retaliation for the limited strike.
Israel will likely come under attack as a result.
There are absolutely no benefits to the US or our allies with the limited strike on Assad's forces.
It has no purpose other than failed politics and foreign policy and will not work to deter either Assad or Iran.

whoa

Totally agree...

If, if, if, Assad indeed did gassing.

For now, no solid proof of a gassing , right?

All the fuss over some thugs and drugs?

And, he wants to help the bad guys.

What countries are gonna come help us clean up our feral problem?

It is very likely that they are all "bad guys"

But why get involved in some mafia drug cartel war?

I have been watching the Senate hearings on Capitol Hill this morning. The question was posed to Sec. Kerry Regarding "American boots on the ground".

He would not totally rule it out and gave a scenario where hypothetically if a cache of chemical weapons were about to fall into the hands of Some bad rebels… American forces may be sent in to secure those chemical weapons.

If we attack… It's going to be a hell of a mess.

We need to stay out of Syria.

:thumbsup: Hell of a mess for sure...Seems like support for the resolution is growing, but not without specific changes to Obama's original proposal…Lawmakers want it more tailored, feeling that there is a "need" to act and a "way" to act that will not create an open-ended, boots-on-the-ground situation…Lets hope they can pull it off….

If you watched the Senate hearing....you come away with a clear understanding that there is a possibility that Chemical Weapons may need to be "secured" and there will be "American Boots on the Ground."

Yeah, troops will be necessary if the military objective is to degrade Syria's ability to mount more chemical attacks…Kerry is hedging big time on this because he knows none of the committee members are willing to support the possibility of combat troops on the ground…Next meeting will be held on Wednesday and will be closed and classified…Sounds like the decision to strike has already been made…sad2

Just think about what he said and the implications.
You bomb the hell out of the region and by doing so you destabilize
the area.
We send troops to secure the chemical weapons. That puts these troops right in the middle of Assad's army on one side, Hezbollah and the Iranian Republican Guard on another and Al-Qaeda on another. Right in the middle of a civil war.
Just greatsad2

WASHINGTON--Members of the Senate Foreign Relations committee hammered out a deal on Tuesday evening that would set a 60-day deadline for military action in Syria, with one 30-day extension possible, according to a draft of the resolution.

The proposal, drafted by Sens. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., and Bob Corker, R-Tenn., would also bar the involvement of U.S. ground forces in Syria, according to the draft. Menendez is the chairman of the foreign relations committee and Corker is the top Republican.

"Together we have pursued a course of action that gives the President the authority he needs to deploy force in response to the Assad regime's criminal use of chemical weapons against the Syrian people, while assuring that the authorization is narrow and focused, limited in time, and assures that the Armed Forces of the United States will not be deployed for combat operations in Syria," Menendez said in a statement.

Not "we" but the power Elite have had this plan for a long time. Syria has been on their list for a while... way before the gassing of civilians. So one has to wonder if the gas attack was done by someone else.

But Assad is no angel. People are leaving his country like in droves. If he is not running them out, then who is?

Page 1 of 4 of "The Plan" SYRIA JOINT RESOLUTION FOR MARKUP....Worth the read!!

JOINT RESOLUTION To authorize the limited and tailored use of the United States Armed Forces against Syria.
Whereas Syria is in material breach of the laws of war by having employed chemical weapons against its civilian population;
Whereas the abuses of the regime of Bashar al-Assad have included the brutal repression and war upon its own civilian population, resulting in more than 100,000 people killed in the past two years, and more than 2 million internally displaced people and Syrian refugees in Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq, creating an unprecedented regional crisis and instability;
Whereas the Assad regime has the largest chemical weapons programs in the region and has demonstrated its capability and willingness to repeatedly use weapons of mass destruction against its own people, including the August 21, 2013 attack in the suburbs of Damascus in which the Assad regime murdered over 1,000 innocent people, including hundreds of children;
Whereas there is clear and compelling evidence of the direct involvement of Assad regime forces and senior officials in the planning, execution, and after-action attempts to cover-up the August 21 attack, and hide or destroy evidence of such attack;
Whereas the Arab League has declared with regards to the August 21 incident to hold the Syrian regime responsible for this heinous crime;
Whereas the United Nations Security Council, in Resolution 1540 (2004) affirmed that the proliferation of nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons constitutes a threat to international peace and security;
Whereas in the Syria Accountability and Lebanese Sovereignty Restoration Act of 2003, Congress found that Syrias acquisition of weapons of mass destruction threatens the security of the Middle East and the national security interests of the United States;
Whereas the actions and conduct of the Assad regime are in direct contravention of Syria's legal obligations under the United Nations Charter, the Geneva Conventions, and the Geneva Protocol to the Hague Convention on the Prohibition of the Use in War of Asphyxiating, Poisonous or other Gases, and of Bacteriological Methods of Warfare, and also violates standards set forth in the Chemical Weapons Convention;
Whereas Syria's use of weapons of mass destruction and its conduct and actions constitute a grave threat to regional stability, world peace, and the national security interests of the United States and its allies and partners;

That's the Senate version and can be amended by the house if they do not support it.
It will take a few more days of back and forth before the final resolution is either passed or dies.
