THE WASHINGTON POST) – MOSCOW – Russia dramatically escalated its denunciations of American threats to attack Syrian military targets on Saturday, as President Vladimir Putin called the arguments about chemical weapons that underlie the U.S. case “utter nonsense.”

The Foreign Ministry said a U.S. attack would be a “gross violation” of international law.

Speaking out for the first time since an alleged chemical weapons attack near Damascus on Aug. 21, Putin called on President Obama to find a nonviolent way out of the crisis.

“I would like to address Obama as a Nobel Peace Prize laureate: Before using force in Syria, it would be good to think about future casualties,” Putin told Russian news agencies in Vladivostok during a tour of the country’s flood-stricken Far East.

“Russia is urging you to think twice before making a decision on an operation in Syria,” he said.

Next week’s Group of 20 economic summit in St. Petersburg would be a good forum for discussing the Syrian issue, he said, “so why not take advantage of it?”

The White House argued Friday that intelligence shows more than 1,400 people died from exposure to chemical weapons in an attack carried out by the Syrian military.

Putin said he was sure the attack was the work of rebels trying to provoke international — and especially American — involvement in the Syrian conflict. The regime of Bashar al-Assad, he said, would have had no reason to use chemical weapons at a time when it had gained the upper hand in the fighting.

“While the Syrian army is on the offensive, saying that it is the Syrian government that used chemical weapons is utter nonsense,” Putin said. Read more via The Washington Post…

Many play a part, not just Your president.

US is making their own problems by fighting among themselves, in the Whitehouse. Government in the US is bringing this country to ruins.
Russia is out to protect their own country just like some of the other counties out there. Why should they go to war, when that battle is not theirs!

I think this might be my first time agreeing with Putin.
The Syrian army have made strong gains in the war over the last year and hold a significant advantage over the rebels. Why use chemical weapons now? I think the rebels, who consist of factions of terrorist entities that have a history of killing innocent people in suicide bombings etc are likely to be responsible for this "attack" to bring outside forces into the conflict.

Not always. If you'll recall the bombing of the US Marine Barracks near Beirut back in the 80's by a single truck bomb, it was Russian Spetnaz agents there that found the ones who did it and let the Americans know where to find them. They simply called it a courtesy.
Sometimes adversaries can be magnanimous for no reason.

Revoke Obama's Nobel Peace Prize

After receiving the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize, President Obama has made perpetual war look more perpetual than ever.

Today, there are more U.S. troops in Afghanistan than when Obama took office. His increasing intervention in Syria promises the loss of even more than the nearly 100,000 lives already needlessly sacrificed. His intervention in Libya cost thousands of lives while destabilizing the entire region. His presidency has widened the use of drones and other instruments of remote killing without limit to almost any place on the globe.

Then there is this......

The Growing Campaign to Revoke Obama's Nobel Peace Prize

The Nobel Peace Prize that President Obama received 40 months ago has emerged as the most appalling Orwellian award of this century. No, war is not peace.
