Topic: Morals VS Ethics | |
---|---|
The United States is a country in crisis. The governing body, does not function as a whole. The whole being those, who not only have the capacity to think and act ethically, but also, who have a desire to do so, to uphold the foundations of freedom and the limitations of government as put forth in our constitution.
Our society has mistaken religious conviction with appropriate ethical actions. In other words, those people who 'seem' to be the most moral, are voted into office. The logic being, that they would do right by the people, without much communication from them. We have consistantly voted into office people based on their high standard of morals, but those morals have been equated to religion, not to ethics. We have an election coming up and what I see in forums concerning who should be on the ballot, is quite disturbing. What we need to do is find a way to determine the ethical stand of those we are considering. Now those with a deep faith, may still feel that the most religiously moral person is the best for the job. But they must take care in this thinking, for any directive, regulation or bill, that is based solely on a religiously based doctrine will eventually, create an unequality within society. Once that exists, if it's not repaired, it becomes an open door for other restrictive laws and eventually we will be a dictatorship. We need to expect our politicians to understand Ethics and Ethical behavior, we need to demand it. THIS IS WHY I WANTED TO SHOW THE DIFFERENCE in these ideas. If we don't know ourselves we will easily be decieved. So when you seek the answers to your questions, of those would be governing officials, listen to their replies. Are they attempting to touch you with their morality, or are they supporting a code of ethics that will more aptly serve to uphold our constitution? If any of you would like, we can take topic and apply both ethics and morals to it and see how it shapes up with regard to supporting not only the majority, but also our rights under the constitution. |
