It is hard to tell why they do this, but I would wonder if they backed out because they were not being honest with you and were afraid to meet you.

Brad Paisley has a video out titled "Online" and it basically says "everyone grows a foot taller, looses a lot of weight and gets sexier online." Jason Alexander is in it (the chubby guy on Seinfeld) and when he logs on he turns into Brad Paisley, just wonder if some of the women you were talking to were lying about who they were, what they looked like, and when "zero hour" approached they bolted and chickened out, and instead of being honest with you they just wouldn't talk to you anymore. Just my thoughts.

Mike-As someone else said, it could just be people that are looking for online friends not anything involving real life. There are those out there. I have a friend that is that way. At least, she only 'talks' to guys that are to far away for a meeting. I have yet to get her to admit it, but I have seen the pattern.

Girlwoman-Step out of the voice box, so to speak. I almost called of a meeting because of someone's voice and used to do the same regularly. However, I am trying to step out of my box and what I think are my usual standards. In doing so, I have met some amazing friends and am now dating a great guy (who has a really Southern accent).

Just my two cents worth. flowerforyou M

Michelle, thanks for the insight and good luck to you and your new relationship. I really can't understand why this happens, it's weird, I mean I am not chatting with people from anywhere but NY. Because of my situation here at home I can not travel long distances for a date, so with that said it is not my NY accent!!! Also, these phone calls are great conversations, both sides chatting like old friends, never a sign of forced conversation, never a sign of oops I put my foot in my mouth with that line, and this is on both sides of the phone call. I simply am at a loss as to what the truth of the story really is....but thanks to everyone for your thoughts!!!drinker

I'm in that corner with ya Mike, it happens to the ladies as well as the gents. Good point on the voice box thing Michele, but it's a shame we have to stero type people as to how they sound (voice) over a phone conversation....I'm guilty, I've done that myself....as well as some men who have talked to me over the phone.....you never hear from them again. That's almost as bad as stero typing a person for their looks.

As Dory said in Finding Nemo...

"Just keep swimming, Just keep swimming..."

Ah, the dreaded NY accent. LOL. My ex-husband has one of those. Makes if funnier when our son is getting a bit of a Southern Twang. I had a heavy Philadelphia accent as a child. However, they beat it out of me with 4 years of speech therapy in FL.
