"Consequences."

Mark my words, that's what there will be for gun owners if Barack Obama's nominee to lead the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives is confirmed by the U.S. Senate.

His name is B. Todd Jones.

And Harry Reid is preparing to ram his confirmation through before lawmakers go on vacation as a last-minute slap-in-the-face to every gun owner and liberty-loving patriot in America.

That's why I'm writing you with this urgent warning.

And I'm hoping you'll read this, and call your U.S. Senators right away and urge them to OPPOSE his nomination.

This is that important!

If confirmed, Mr. Jones will be tasked with carrying out and enforcing Barack Obama's anti-gun agenda.

And he's shown every sign that he will trample all over your liberties and your Second Amendment rights in the process.

We're talking about:

*** Unconstitutional "Executive Orders" and actions.

*** Re-inventing the agency's so-called "existing authority" as a back-door way of imposing new gun control, or even gun bans, without Congressional approval.

*** Increasing red-tape in order to criminalize more law-abiding gun owners, gun dealers and firearm transfers.
But it's not just about what B. Todd Jones will do.

It's also about what he has done.

As acting ATF director for the past two years, he went out of his way to persecute those in his agency who dared to expose those responsible for "Operation Fast and Furious."

As you may remember, the Fast and Furious gun-walking scandal was where the U.S. government funneled illegal weapons to Mexican drug cartels, resulting in the deaths of a U.S. Border Patrol agent and hundreds of innocent Mexican citizens.

But what did B. Todd Jones do to fix this mess?

Virtually nothing.

He even failed to hold those responsible for Operation Fast and Furious accountable.

Through a combination of "personnel shifts" and rewarding government bureaucrats by letting them retire with fat pensions, many of those responsible faced no punishment at all.

Instead, he cracked-down on ATF whistle-blowers and threatened his employees with consequences if they stepped out of line.

“... if you don’t abide by the rules, that if you don’t respect the chain of command, if you don’t find the appropriate way to raise your concerns to your leadership, there will be consequences ...”

- B. Todd Jones to ATF employees, 7/9/2012
With a President who thinks any criticism that hits his desk is part of a "phony scandal" it makes sense.

B. Todd Jones has a track record of treating the scandal-ridden ATF's problems as "phony."

But "Operation Fast and Furious" wasn't phony.

And the consequences were real to all those impacted, except those who were responsible for it.
Worse, under Jones' leadership the ATF has been driven even further out-of-control.

Alongside embattled anti-gun Attorney General Eric Holder, the ATF's power and ability to slap otherwise law-abiding gun owners under a government microscope has grown by leaps and bounds.

Even the radical gun grabbers at the Brady Campaign are singing praises for his anti-gun record.

This isn't the direction the ATF should be taking.

We should be talking about how to reign-in the ATF and it’s abuses of power.

But instead, B. Todd Jones is all set to continue doing Obama and Holder's bidding as their anti-gun Czar.

The prospect of that is so bad that even members of the law enforcement community are sounding the alarm.

“I feel morally compelled to make your committee aware of Mr. Jones’ atrocious professional reputation within the federal law enforcement community…

As a retired FBI senior executive, I am one of the few voices able to publicly express our complete discontent with Mr. Jones… without fear of retaliation or retribution from him."

- Donald Oswald, former FBI Special Agent-in-charge, Minneapolis Division

The U.S. Senate has a opportunity to reject the policies of the President's anti-gun agenda, and the scandals surrounding Attorney General Eric Holder's Justice Department.

It starts by REJECTING the nomination of B. Todd Jones and opposing the cloture vote.

But Harry Reid and Barack Obama are not going to let this go.

They are scheduled to bring Jones up for confirmation as early as this Wednesday.

Worse, Republicans have the votes to block him, but some are already preparing to surrender anyway.

Please contact your U.S. Senators right now.

Urge them to OPPOSE the cloture motion on anti-gun nominee B. Todd Jones.

Please do not wait.

Act today.
