Every profile I click especially in my area of northern Ontario, the profiles have only one thing to say to me "NOT ACTIVE" they all say "Last seen over a month ago" is Facebook the only place to try to meet people nowadays?

Its hard enough for me to try to meet people but to join sites like these lately to not have any real active members gets over whelming sometimes. I'm not a big fan of Facebook either which I guess limits my possibilities more, but I feel as though your just to at risk of someone knowing too much about you on those sites too fast, and its too easy to cause problems in your life if someone gets hurt and wants to make life for you unbearable, they can start problems with your friends and family by just simply making a comment or worse yet.

I live in a pretty small town to begin with and I have had some horrible ex's in my past that just didn't know how to move on with their lives at the time, and social sites that make it easy for them to continue to make life miserable for you don't really have much attraction to me.

I just wish I could find someone to connect with without putting so much of myself out there, does anyone else feel this way or is it just me? And what does it take these days to get someones attention online anyway? Suggestions please!!! im not having much luck. I know pics for one, but is it really all about looks now? Im a decent looking guy but I don't really want everyone in my town to know how desperate I must look joining these sites, dying to find someone to be with again after being alone for so long.

I just don't know how to do this internet dating thing without causing myself anxiety and stressing about so much anymore, someone please help if you can, I really have no friends to speak of that I can share these thoughts with so i'm begging for the masses to take a few minutes and really help me get through this.

For now ledusty, I definitely say party! The harder we party the more noise we make and noise always bring attention, maybe we'll rustle up some members with a pulse on here yet.
