Malwarebytes.... for those of you who don't know about it. Even removes "Ransomware" like the FBI virus.
As a backup to you antivirus....which few of them really or rarely work.... The free version of Malwarebytes run in safe mode will remove most infectious viruses. www.malwarebytes.org There is also a free rootkit virus killer, surprisingly by Kaspersky, called tdsskiller that will remove any root viruses affecting the safe operation of your machine. Take it from a guy who works on computers for a living, and likes free things that actually work, these are must have tools! You can thank me later.... as all my clients do A few other warnings for you.... Toolbars are the major cause of most viruses...even more so than porn sites.... uninstall ALL toolbars, even for your antivirus!... they are simply a security breach into your machine that opens ports hackers can attack freely! Avoid Google Chrome! Updates install virul software that is killing many machines! (Conduit, sweetpacks, my web search and the NSA bug) Firefox is still the fastest, safest and most secure browser out there! (for PC.... You can always buy a MAC ![]() Turn off Automatic updates on ALL software programs and do custom installs so you know what you are getting. Windows security updates now include the NSA bug, as most major software programs do...auto updates are bad, bad, bad! Wild Tangent and other PC game software is a major source of mywebsearch as well....it's not the games, it's the software! You must have malwarebytes if you play games on your PC, and run it often! Few things that are free are rarely free in reality, and most are paid for by advertising.....those ads sponsored by the companies who advertise thru them, use programs like conduit, toolbars, my web search, fun web, freeze.com, coupons, rebates, I want this, etc, etc, etc, use tracking software, open unsecure ports, and transmit data (yes, like the NSA is collecting) to advertisers who in turn will flood you with ads, emails, offers .....and viruses! |

Ok, I got rid of the dammmm thing. Malwarebytes is good. I had an updated file but some how it got by. Thank goodness for windows restore. I had to run restore from the command prompt. wouldn't take it any other way. All that I lost was my bookmarks. I will back them up from now on.
Note to all. Keep your anti virus and malware programs updated and run scans as much as possible. AvG and Malwarebytes are free, get them. I'm going to purchase the full version of Malwarebytes. It's cheap protection. ![]() |
