Alot of movies actually had an impact on me, some made me cry and other made me think.

V for Vendetta ; Just for V speech when he attack the television station, it made me think about the system and fear.

Dancer in the dark; Showed me a part of myself I forgot over time, I really love musical (ty disney), plus it is a super sad story that deeply touched me.

Ip man ; Great chiness-martial art movie, it also show part of the history of china, how they live the invasion. There is alot of great scene.

Gattaca ; It showed a futur I fear, where dream just cant be acheived.

I was deeply affected by Saving Private Ryan. The opening combat scenes were more memories than I could handle. I had to walk out for few minutes.

was not able to watch most of The Deerhunter...

as far as being moved by a movie. I've had a few movies impact me profoundly. The Color Purple was one, I think it close to the best artwork on film/celluloid

also a not well known movie called Local Hero.

and a sweet canadian picture called "Fly Away Home"

Quite a few, for different reasons...

Ikiru (1952)
Little Fugitive (1953)
Harold And Maude (1971)
Picnic At Hanging Rock (1975)
The Spirit Of The Beehive (1973)
White Dog (1982)
When The Wind Blows (1986)
The Plague Dogs(1982)
Threads (1984)
In A Glass Cage (1987)
Titicut Follies (1967)
The Century Plaza (2005)
Week End (1967)
The Exterminating Angel (1962)
Valerie And Her Week of Wonders (1970)

A few more-

Jean de Florette (1986)
Manon of the Spring (1986, sequel to Jean de Florette)

And since some people mentioned adult films- Forced Entry (1973), the first time I saw graphic violence, and porn combined. Definitely on my list of disturbing films.

I agree with Empire of the Sun. Good choice. This movie is so moving that I chose it as our Christmas movie this last year 2012 for our family Christmas. I wanted my sons to see it. My oldest son particularly as he went through some difficult struggles. I told them before we watched it that the human spirit is amazing...to please watch this boy, how clever he is...how clever they all were

they were pretty much speechless and spellbound. it moved us all.

I once watched this doco ( forget the name) that was about tribes around the world. It showed this elderly woman living in the Himalayas who had been blind for something like 20 years due to be so close to the sun I think. Then a friend in her village carried her for over 50 Kms on his back to this eye clinic where a simple 10min operation gave her her sight back. Just the look on her face afterwards brought me to tears. It's amazing how much we take for granted.
