1. I don't mean to be slow
 but when people usually refer to "settling down" do they mean to get married with kids?
If that's the case, I guess I don't want to settle or either I want to partially settle. I want marriage but no kids. 2. At one point do you think you are ready to "settle?" I'm not rushing marriage. My parents were divorced. The divorce rates and remarriages are high today

it can mean that it can also mean to stop the wild life partying til all hours with your friends and such and being more responsible

Bored, I neve have & never will settl down.
Life is meant to be lived. Divorced once, married twice. Learned the hard to "live like your dying." You can marry & then have a partner in crime. Raise hell together, best way. |

For some man it's ok not to have kids but for like me that i like kids i say i do want like MORE! ..lol but i just dont get marriage with the girl that says i love u i give it time so i know she is the girl to get marri sound good or bad ?boredchick07

oldsage, I understand where you're coming from after 2 marriages and a divorce. Why wouldn't you feel that way? LOL I should come to you for advice. I still want to get married for several reasons. |

I think the only reason the divorce rate is higher now than it used to be is because people aren't taking marriage as a serious thing anymore.They may say the vowels but they don't live by them.I just think couples need to take more time and think about marriage before they actually go through with it.

I think during the baby boomer period (1950's) marriage was better financially too. In a divorce there is so much involved financially.

Hmm...I've never really liked the phrase, "settling down". I think life is an adventure and I don't think marriage changes that. |

I think to a lot of people that settling down does mean marriage and children. Or at most getting married. Not everyone wants children. I happen to have one. He doesnt live with me though I wish he did
At this point in my life though, I think I may be too old to have anymore children....so I want someone to "settle" down with.....

Well the term could also mean...Being in a committed long-term relationship vs. still just wanting to date other people!

Thank you everyone for the responses. I just want use the terms settling down because there are so many meanings behind it. If I do use it I will have to clarify what it means for me.

Settle Down???, We don't need no stinkin' settling down, all it is gonna be is someone to ride the rollercoaster of life with, a soulmate, a lover, and a best friend...

To me settling down is making a commitment to one person and going thru life with them.Not all want kids.I have had all I want..

I don't like to settle but to commit to someone, I could, to marry, I could,,,,,,,,,,BUT, she would HAVE to be ALL IT, and THATS seen and felt in my mind and heart through lots of TIME. No RACE for life thing, but I hate to just keep on dating and I would Love to find someone to share TIME with and if that ment to live together, that would be cool, but marrage would be my THIRD, and "THAT" won't be an easy thing to have happen w/o great balance and love.
