I would like to celebrate the fourth of July by burning the British Flag. After all, that is the country we were supposed to have won our independence from.

OMG! Be careful not to set yourself on fire as well.

After burning the British Flag, then I will hang a dummy that represents the Queen of England and then burn a list of all the American (traitors) who have received "honorary knighthoods from her.

I think it is rather traitorous to receive this "knighthood honour."

A Knighthood normally conveys the Title of 'Sir' (or in the case of a woman 'Dame') upon the recipient, but that Title is separate from the Honour itself.

Only one form of Knighthood automatically converys the Title - the Knight Bachelor - in all other cases, the Title and Honour are separate.

Citizens of the United Kingdom and most of the Commonwealth (Canada is a noteable exception) will received the Title of Sir or Dame if they receive a Knighthood but that just means they receive both - not that they are the same thing.

As a Knighthood is not a title, there is no legal impediment under the US Constitution for an American citizen to accept a Knighthood.

But he may not accept the title of Sir.

This is a very technical argument, I know, but the reason(excuse) it developed is because the first significant body of Americans to be Honoured by the British Crown were American Officers who had served alongside, and in some cases, commanded, British troops during World War I.

The British government formed the view at that time that foreign Generals and Admirals who had commanded British troops or served in equivalent positions in the allied forces should receive equivalent Honours to British Generals and Admirals.

Atleast England is our native soil and we can be proud of such a rich heritage and history. What about Shakespeare? Nothing compares to that! America is only a couple of centuries old and is like a child with dangerous toys.

England concerd the world through military might bit weapons of mass destruction, which seems to give them the bollocks to push other countries around.

America should stop playing grownups on the world stage and let the more experienced and rich countries run things.

America is going down the toilet and it is going to take the rest of us with it.

In a few days, we will all have an opportunity to peacefully inflict a major psychological blow on the rapidly coalescing police state by the simple but powerful act of refusing to play along with the absurd pantomime on the 4th of July that we live in an even nominally free country – one with the rule of law, an operative Constitution and respect for individual rights.

One that isn’t a thugocracy.

We can turn our backs on the flag. Decline to participate when urged to cheer and sing. No fireworks. No barbeques.

We can sit down – and bow our heads.

We can mention the unmentionable: That there is no longer any meaningful limit to the power of the government over our lives. No line beyond which it may not tread. That it lies, spies and tyrannizes.

We can admit to ourselves the shoddy – and frightening – reality bubbling up all around us.

By so doing, we can shatter the illusion that this government operates with anything remotely approximating our consent.

This is absolutely essential. The 4th of July pantomime requires that we deny the obvious – that we instead pretend we’re free people living in a free country; one in which the government is accountable to the people, one in which the government is limited by law. One in which people can’t simply be dragooned into prisons without due process, held incommunicado, tortured. A country with a president who doesn’t have kill lists – or use the instruments of state power to punish and intimidate his political opponents. One in which citizens must be suspected of a crime before their personal correspondence is filched through and recorded for later use against them. One in which a traveler is free from arbitrary and random searches of his person and effects.

One in which the attorney general of the United States isn’t able to get away with providing guns to gangs or brazenly lie about his use of the power of his office to go after political “enemies” rather than pursue justice.

No one is going to listen to you!
You've wasted however long it took for you to type that up!

We celebrate The United States Of America on the 4th of July!
Not congress, news stories, or bs politics!
Our bbqs, fireworks, and celebrations show the government and other countries around the world that we as Americans stand strong and will continue to do so no matter what issues are going on with our government and the rest of the world!
That's not to say that we will just forget and ignore everything that's happening!
We'll go back to kicking people in the face while drinking Mountain Dew after our celebrations!

Silly protests like turning your back doesn't make problems go away!
You have to get up off your lazy a** and make them go away!

Celebrate this 4th of July as best as you can!
For America and Americans everywhere!

Isn't that what the World is supposed to come to?
Going down the Sewere!
Haven't you Religionists preached just that for Centuries?
What you complaining now, that the self-fullfilling "Prophecy" might happen?
Rechoice,Man,RECHOICE!

Well that particular colony had a great advantage over the Kingdom.

Great Briton had to travel over sea to resupply the royal troops.

Still Her Majesty may retake what is hers again.
Where did the Americans get their re-supply from?laugh

On July 4, 1776, we claimed our independence from Britain and Democracy was born. Every day thousands leave their homeland to come to the “land of the free and the home of the brave” so they can begin their American Dream.

The United States is truly a diverse nation made up of dynamic people. Each year on July 4, Americans celebrate that freedom and independence with barbecues, picnics, and family gatherings. Through the Internet we are learning about and communicating with people of different nations, with different languages and different races throughout the world. Bringing the world closer with understanding and knowledge can only benefit all nations.

We invite all nations to celebrate with Americans this Fourth of July.

Happy Birthday, America! drinks
