Hey yall, I got an HTC Thunderbolt Verizon contract phone from my sis. She upgraded & gave it to me. This phone takes a sim card. I have a pre paid thru straight talk which uses GSM & has a sim card. My question is, how do I unlock the HTC to use my sim card from my GSM phone to the HTC? I don't want to pay for some online company or input my IMEI# into some website or take a survey or offer. Ant tips or help would be appreciated. Thanks!

the default code in some phones is the last four digits of the phone number that the phone was last contracted to

Well, I would suggest to get the unlock code straight from Verizon before the service ends. If that is not possible, you will have to go to a site and pay. (I paid $10.00 for my crackberry unlock code.) I switched from Verizon to AT&T. Now, I was told because it is an unlocked phone and originally from Verizon that all I could do was text and make phone calls. That my phone would not support their data plans. (internet, send photos and email.) Make sure you question the heck out of the person selling you a plan before you sign on the dotted line. You will probably have to still get a new sim card from the company you are switching to. I still have a lingering headache from dealing with both companies.
