If you were locked in an empty, white room with nothing but a chair in it for 10 days? How would you feel and how would you react?

Not to be mysterious but I'll tell you why I ask later today or tomorrow (depending on whether anyone/ how many answer).

Do I know I will be there for a set amount of time? or is it just placed in a white room and locked in indefinately?

After the first two days of no reference point to day and night, or idea of time, my body would return to it's natural biorythms, so would sleep three or so times in a 24 hour period for a few hours, unless of course I have meals arrive three times a day, and can cue my body clock by the food..ie breakfast type food, lunch, dinner.

I think I would find the chair boring and annoying after a few days as it would be the only visual focal point, so depending on it's structure, I may break it into smaller pieces, and play with the different shapes I could make of it.

I enjoy my own company, and if I wasn't treated harshly prior to my incarceration, I too would meditate and 'escape' my confines in my mind.

I guess it all depends on whether I am in a fearful state when placed in the room initially, as to my reaction.

But I am a patient person, so would find the lack of stimulus a little tedious, but would create my own, if I was warm and clothed, and had ablution amenities it would not be harsh..

So much depends on the situation surrounding incerceration Anosis, to be able to give an estimation of my reactions.

I don't know.
I'm a bit claustrophobic, so the thought of being locked in makes me sweat profusely. I don't know whether I would be able for rational thoughts or actions.

Take it from an ex-pow...It is not a great place to me. But I was thankful I was trained to deal with it..

Pray first...

Look for a way out of the room.

Start Fasting...

I would keep myself entertained by: singing, talking, and thinking.

These are really good answers!!! But I will let more have a chance to answer before explaining what it is *supposed* to indicate....

Mrs. Teddybear- no, it's not for paper- if it was I would make that clear in advance, it's just an experiment between the people here, not for anything/anyone outside this forum. For me to do such a thing without saying so- I would consider it to be a breach of trust...

If I knew I was going to be released in 10 ten days and that I would receive food and water I don't think it would bother me much at all.

In fact, if I were ever incarcerated I would prefer solitary confinement. But that would just be kept clear of the criminals.

I basically live my life in solitary confinement. Not quite an empty room, but I seldom see people. I go for weeks (sometimes months in the winter) without seeing another person live. I never call anyone on the phone and the only phone calls I get are telemarketers, and I hand up on them instantly. I never listen to the radio. I have a TV but no antenna. All I have are college lectures to watch on VHS and DVD.

I do have my instruments to play. Piano, violin, guitar, flute, clarinet, trumpet, cello, viola, and banjo. But I’m not really into music. It more of a mathematical appeal.

I can get lost in my mind so my immediate surroundings are not all that important. I also like to meditate so if I were confined to an empty room I’d probably take advantage of the situation and meditate.

It wouldn’t be a problem at all for 10 days. Now if I thought it was going to be life imprisonment I’d have a problem with it.

I have to check in on the same level as Jess and Abra. Of course we make the assumption that there are no windows and no key or handle to the only way in or out, the door. Without further information, like, do I know it's only for 10 days, will I receive regular or sporadic food and water. Of course there's a problem in itself. If provided food and water, I would likely not eat or drink much - I would hate to imagine being in that room for any unknown period with a chair in one corner and my waste in another.

As far as my thought process and what I would do. I would start singing. I start from my earliest memorized song "A B C D E F G" and try to remember all the words and melodies to every song. Then as I sang, I would remember how I know the song and just let the memories of the time period and the people take over my time.

When that became a drag or I thought it was going to fast, I would consider the chair. Like Jess, I would likely take it apart, see what I could do with all the pieces. Are there nails holding it together? Can I reconstruct it, I guess it would end up being an amusement for me.

Finally, I imagine I would become depressed wondering if I would ever see or have one last chance to tell all the people I care about, how much they mean to me. But not for long, for the happy memories those same people have provided me, will bring me back to singing again.

there sure is a lot of injection of unknown factors going on

If you were locked in an empty, white room with nothing but a chair in it for 10 days? How would you feel and how would you react?

nothing said about abuse

how would you know it was ten days if you were not told

nothing said about what kind of chair

if taken at face value

you would not expect to be abused (unless you consider the
isolation abuse)

just a thought

but hey what do i know

I think we just discovered the answer to the riddle of life.

By the posts in this thread the sole purpose of life seems to be the pursuit of entertainment.

It all depends on why I think that I am in there.

pretty much

but i thought you knew that already

why does one do anything

usually so they can do what they want

why do they want to do it

because it distracts their boredom

what distracts boredom --------- entertainment

many things can entertain

is not exiting more important than why yer there

if yer not in condition to leave

then could you leave when the time came to go

regardless of why you are there

I would have a panic attack of epic proportions and would probally pace around the room the whole ten days.I would put the chair down sideways in a corner to poop behind.
