Remember in the caveman days when all a dude had to do was point to a woman, take his club, smack her on the butt with it and proclaim, "Ugh! You....me....go out....now....get married two days later". And that was love at first club strike.

Don't understand why there would be any rules on this one. Seems like it should be a natural thing and for those who feel comfortable doing the asking they should just do it. Maybe at one time many moons ago there was a purpose and a place for rules and such but things have really changed in the last several years and I think many older rules have pretty much been done away with. I think more women have rules about this than men. They tend to have other dating rules as well, I'm sure. I'm not even sure "rules" is the right description....Maybe "roles" would be a better way to say it....Gender rules are funny little idiosyncrasies that seem to get more and more confounding as traditional gender roles blur...I think how we handle initial communication has everything to do with the two personalities involved, and nothing to do with how it is viewed by others, including family members (assuming we're talking about adults)...In the past, based on specific circumstances, I have initiated contact and I have waited for the man to make the first move....What I don't do is play games, if I am interested in meeting someone, I have no problem letting them know... You think the same way I do about this, Leigh. |

Men, do you prefer to ask women out? Does it bother you when women ask you out? Women, do you ever ask men out? Do you prefer men do the asking? chasing women has been unsuccessful for me,so i do prefer for the woman to ask, unless i really know i won't get turned down or maced again |

Ok, is suggesting a meet after talking to someone for a bit asking them out? If so, I have.
Otherwise, I was taught that a man doesn't respect a woman who is too forward in that area. And it has stuck. Even though I don't see anything wrong with it either way. Some taught ways of thinking are hard to break. |

I usually do the asking, however the women who have asked me out were so sweet about it that I have never said no.

I usually do the asking, but, if you wish to ask me out, I feel flattered that you would.

I do not Chase men, that never was my thing, however, if you are interested in a man, there is nothing wrong with asking him out, all he can say is Yes or No.
