When it comes to dating someone new, are you hard to impress, easy to impress?

Is there something specific that seems to impresses you?

What are things your dates have tried to impress you with that backfired?

I can't say I look to be impressed. I am fairly easily contented or impressed, have you, with a genuinely nice person who shows consideration, quick wit, humor and good conversation.

I think for the first few dates that's all we really need to know about each other. If I didn't suspect a man had these elements I probably would not have agreed to see him in the first place.

Fastest way EVER to turn me away, tell me about
all your 'stuff' that you have accumulated.

I begin picturing them without all their 'stuff'
and usually there is simply nothing left of them.

('Stuff' is usually, cars, planes, motels, businesses,
jewelry, oh yeah flash all that gold too, homes, etc.)

My extremely wise Grandmother(20 years ago)gave me a little method to help uncover what you really know about a person you’re dating. In your mind, take away his car, his home, his toys and clothes, put him in an old pair of jeans and T-shirt and throw him in a cabin in the woods for a few days. Now what do you know about him?

If you don't like what you know, you can always just leave them there to starve what ....in your mind of course.

About 20 years ago? With your Grandmere's advice, you're lucky that you didn't run into Ted Kaczynski. He loved to go to his little cabin, dress in old clothes, like jeans and a T-shirt, and make all sorts of things for people he knew...laugh

I'd known him for quite a while, as a friend first, so I'm not that sure if he was trying to impress. Anyway, I normally wait quite a while, before jumping into bed with anyone.

It always made me think of Thoreau actually.

My Grandmother went from a very simple and humble way of life straight into the jowls of inner city life. I don't think she ever REALLY recovered from that sudden shock in lifestyle. tongue2

I'm really not hard to impress...Like, say, you can cook...Immediately impressed.

Play video games? Impressed...Read? Even more impressed. Hate? Not so impressive.

So, just don't hate anyone or anything and you should impress me.

i'm not easily impressed.......

want to share something that happened recently........noticed the first time he didn't seem to know how to operate some of the gadgets in the car, second date noticed again and I said to him,'you don't seem to know this car very well'...he says..'i stole it to impress you'...i laugh..he says 'are you impressed?'...i say 'i don't know what kind of car this even is,thinking he's teasing me'...he tells me a quick story of past vehicles and that he upgrades every ten years...i still don't know what type of car it is...i do tell him its very nice and quiet'...he laughs...then tells me its a cadillac.....i tell him later as we leave the restaurant i like how the door handles lightup.....he grins and tells me i'm precious.

i'd rather be impressed by the man and not the car.

Most just try to feign interest in my own interests and when trying to set up dates or excursions it all just falls apart.

That's an easy one for me to dodge. There are not too many men who are all that interested in ballet. The costumes maybe, but not the art. laugh

You got that right!laugh

I agree about Kaczynski; shame he didn't starve.
I envy people who can have companionship. I always drink alone.
Thanks for the visit,BTW; was going to send you a flower and say Thanks, but I'm blocked; nearly 100...

I'm not hard to impress. For example....this one chick I went out on a date with got a few drinks in her, livened up and then proceeded to inform me she could tie a cherry stem in a knot. I can't do that, so it amazed me when she accomplished this feat. shades

I think you will find most of us older guys hard to impress, especially my fellow veterans of any age.

Nothing impresses me, that way I can gauge all women as equals.

Dates have tried to show me how smart they are but do little 'ugly' not so bright things. I know I do the same, but then again I don't try to impress anyone, so nyah-nyah!
