hard to tell.
i eat dairy...but only vegetarian dairy. cheese has to be made without rennet, or i won't touch it. (rennet is enzymes from a slaughtered calf's stomach.) everyone's comfort level is different, i suppose... |

Velveeta ingredients: MILK, WATER, MILKFAT, WHEY, WHEY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, SODIUM PHOSPHATE, MILK PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, ALGINATE, SODIUM CITRATE, APOCAROTENAL (COLOR), ANNATTO (COLOR), ENZYMES, CHEESE CULTURE.

vegetarians eat dairy and eggs don't they..it's just when you go to vegan it's stricter..it's no dairy, eggs or fish

those enzymes...that's rennet.
those enzymes are taken from the stomachs of baby cows. cheeses that are made with bacterial enzymes list on their ingredient list that they are from animal-free or bacterial sources. i've checked with peta, and velveeta is definitely not vegetarian. i eat small amounts of dairy, including cheeses from such companies as horizon, tillamook, and cabot. i also eat unfertilized eggs. here's a list of rennet-free cheeses: http://cheese.joyousliving.com/CheeseListBrand.aspx |
