Reacting to Sen. Dianne Feinstein's (D-CA) blunt reply to Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on gun control, Republican pundit and author Ann Coulter exclaimed on Thursday night that the whole conversation makes her think "liberal women should not be able to hold office" in the United States.

She explained that her shocking notion springs from her prior belief that women should not be allowed to vote, mainly because "as soon as they get a question they don't like, they start crying." She then compared Feinstein, one of the longest-serving Democrats in the Senate, to a college student failing to answer a question by a professor.

"He's absolutely right, he nailed her, so she said I'm offended," Coulter said. "I used to think women just shouldn't be able to vote. Now I think at least liberal women should not be able to hold office, and by woman I do not mean to limit that to the biological sense. That is not an answer, I'm offended."

She went on to say that the gun control conversation is "futile" because Democrats, particularly women, "become hysterical, they cry, and want to show pictures of dead children, as if our position is we don't mind a few dead children. Our position is concealed carry would stop these slaughters."

Feinstein's rebuke was triggered by what she called a "lecture" by Cruz on the Constitution. 'I am not a sixth grader," she said before bluntly explaining that she does not believe the Second Amendment grants a universal right to own any weapon one desires.

The Democratic senator's assault weapons ban, which was previously law for 10 years before a Republican Congress allowed it to expire in 2004, does not apply to handguns. Had the law been extended, the weapon used by Newtown shooter Adam Lanza would have been illegal, making it doubtful that his mother could have even found one to purchase in the first place.

I think we need both to have a balanced point of view.

I just dread the gridlock.
