How hard is it really to find your soulmate and best friend? Someone that keeps promises and will stand with you until the end. I was sure, absolutely 100% positive that my ex was that woman. How can someone love you one day and promise to be there for you and not be there the next?

Yes hun, true love does exist...but it's a fragile thing that both partners need to be willing to nurture.
If they invest the time and patience...water it, feed it, and yes do the occasional pruning, that love can grow to a mighty oak.

When the earth was new, maybe there was only so many souls. People multiplied and souls splintered. Soulmates are maybe not in just one person, to believe or seek that may be futile. There is no other half...but if you are lucky there is a splinter of who you are. Grab on to them, love them and never let them go.

Assuming a soul mate exists I would calculate the odds are not stacked in your favor given recent population booms. Probably a few of those yet, I imagine there are many yet untouched by the cruel fate of our society. Well now, that isn't really 100% now, is it? Same way I can have ever-lasting conversations about philosophy with the voices in my head.

No...Outside of a sordid frame of mind it does not exist, then again neither love nor hate truly exist we just exhibit certain mannerisms towards certain content. It is like a puppet master and his puppets, we are the puppets twisted and conformed to alienate the "Different" because it isn't like us.
