I'm thinking about starting my life over in TN... I want to be close to a children's hospital but not where I have to live in a city. I know there is one in knoxville, but I don't want to live in knoxville itself. I love lakes and I guess my dream would be to live near one. Thing is I'm wondering if anyone knows of any houses possibly rent to own with at least 3 bedrooms. Maybe someone can tell me what the job market is like as well. My dh is a diesel mechanic/ heavy equipment mechanic. I'm really hoping for a miracle soon since my dh was fired from his job on Monday because he forgot to put oil in the transmission... I have a feeling his heart was on my son's heart surgery which was the next day. Here is to hoping the Lord leads us to a better life real soon.

I don't know where you live now, but be prepared to take a huge pay cut if you go to Tennessee. Although the costs of living are lower than most states, so are the wages and the availability of jobs. I am an LPN and lived in the Tennessee/Kentucky area my whole life and the most I ever made WITH benefits was $15-something per hour. Typically I worked for agencies making around $20 an hour with no benefits of any kind, and then the work could be unpredictable at times but the pay rate was attractive so I did it and just hoped for the best. I moved to Vegas last year and am really loving the city life. . . . .although the cost of living here is indeed an outrage. Have you considered Nashville? It has Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. Their specialists treated my daughter from the time she was diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes in 2002. I have absolutly no complaints about them or their pediatric hospital.
Very best of luck to you. If I can help in any way by answering any questions about Tennessee just let me know. I will be glad to help if I can.

Hello... I've been to Nashville and I was just really disappointed. I suppose I thought that Nashville would be gorgeous with flowers and such. It was just one more city though, and I just wasn't real impressed. I did go to Douglas Lake this past summer before my son's heart catheterization. We live in amish country here in Pa, and I know there are more jobs here, but I really feel out of place here. People are not very friendly here, but I felt that in TN people are just different... friendlier. I suppose the pay is going to be less in Tn than here, but after moving into an area where crime is higher... I think I value country living and the simple life.

Mystique...

Whenever I am interested in an area and want to check out information I usually check with the Chamber of Commerce, they usually have great information, possibly also about relocation. I hope this helps you and good luck with your search.

Thank you puffins... thats a good idea. I came across a house to rent in Louisville, Tn, but I do not know much about the area. Even reading on the internet doesn't always tell you a lot. I know moving here to Lancaster I thought this was a nice place till I lived here and found out from neighbors about the crime and how they were robbed three times. I'm looking for a safe neighborhood where the people are friendly.
