The thread's still young and Ann Coulter's #1 fanboy is no longer here to read the party line, but I have no doubt someone will be along shortly to point out how perfectly Dubya channels Winston Churchill.

Invisible,

If your statement:

"... Nobody here ever said that Bush was a real statesman, did they??..."

was in reference to 'kerryO's :

"... A real statesman wouldn't need or want the services of McCarthyites like Atwood or Rove..."

IMO, that was exactly 'kerryO's drift.

BUSH in 'kerryO's mind = NO statesman!!!

And the Democrats are just such angels, right.

Never been a single corrupt one, or even one that leaned to the shady side.

No dem pres. has ever gotten us in to a war or police action etc. Right?

Cause JFK and his daddy were saints.

Clinton was the next best thing to god? correct?

Bzzzzt.

Wrong.

I wasn't particulary sad to see Dan Rostenkowski get drummed out of office. Like a judge, I try every case on its merits.

So don't look at me like a predator looks at a food animal-- I never run with the herd. I'm registered Independent and tend to vote for people like Ross Perot, as I did in '92.

As for people like Karl Rove and Lee Atwater, I think the country would be a lot better off if their ilk were driven out of politics.

If I ever run for elected office of any type, I'd want Rove running my campaign. After all, he managed to get a guy elected twice who should never had gotten elected once.

To 'HangedMan' and to all whom are interested in 'free' debates.

Tribal, general, and unfounded accusations such as the one 'HangedMan' makes here :

" And the Democrats are just such angels, right."

IS A WASTE OF TIME AND ENERGY, AND DOES NOTHING TO FORWARD THE DEBATE IMO.

Defending oneself agaisnt such unfounded accusation is an equal waste of 'air time' IMO.

'HangedMan' this is not personal. You're actually allowing a debate inside the debate.

In this particular post, we're talking about Karl Rove stepping down and what people's opinions are on that subject.

People are doing just that. Pro, agaisnt, in between. That's it!!! That's what these forums are about.

In the course of making unfounded, general, and blind accusations, in a reaction to a perceived attack on one's pesonal convictions or positions, one more often than not forgets to express a view on the subject. All that is left is the unfounded and immaterial attack, as is the case in the example cited above.

I invite you to say something on the topic, free of attacks. If you wish to counter argue someone else's argument, do so with facts, numbers, ideas, concepts which elevate the debate, and not with attacks which lower the form.

Of course I'm not suggesting unfounded attacks will stop in debating forums such as these. They won't. But the participants in each singular posts, have a say in the manner and tone they adopt in their debating style, and thus enhance or bash the post. Either will happen. It is up to us in this specific post to chose!!!

'knoxman',

You wrote:

From a purely objective standpoint, it would be accurate to say that Rove will do anything and everything to win whatever.

But winning something, where the 'ends justify the means', as has been Rove's trademark, makes my stomach turn!!!

That being said:

"... makes my stomach turn!!!",

I fully expect you might have a very different viewpoint on this subject 'Hangedman', and I would very much appreciate reading it. No tricks, hidden agenda or set-up. Just interested in you sharing YOUR VIEW on the subject of Karl Rove stepping down.

Look forward to it.

voileazur:

Don't worry, I was only joking. But I wasn't joking about my last sentence in that particular post.

Which goes to point out a problem in America. This problem will forever be Karl Rove's "greatest" legacy. Indeed, it seems to be a way of life for him. Here goes:

You are only remembered for accomplishing something.
How you accomplished it doesn't matter nor is remembered.

Those two statements, sadly, reflect the general attitude of quite a few Americans today. It is very prevelant among BOTH political parties. Rove, however, managed to raise it to an artform in 2000 and 2004.

That will be his greatest legacy. And his greatest tragedy.

I'm not attacking anyone. Just venting a bit. Politics has become a very dirty game. Rove played it well. After all winning is what it is all about. Now anyways.

HangedMan, thanks for your view. I appreciate it. Don't agree with it, but sincerely appreciate it.

'knoxman', with that last piece, especially the part :
'... You are only remembered for accomplishing something. How you accomplished it doesn't matter nor is remembered...'.

You've come full circle in a rather majestic fashion!!!

I repeat...he's an evil reptile that thinks nothing of the slaughtered women & babies and others from that filthy & illegal war...

he's a public figure...I can call it like I see it...I refrain from that type of thing in reference to people around here...even though I get my share...
