Has anyone ever seen the movie Hard Candy? It's basically the story of a young girl who turns the tables on a would-be stalker. Without going into any great detail, she basically ends up drugging him, tying him to his own kitchen table and does an "operation" on him while he's awake. LOL. Not to sound like a totally militant feminist, but this is one of the most empowering movies ever. Hopefully, this movie will be a lesson to men who are thinking of doing something illegal. This movie shows that the tables can sometimes be turned, so to speak. I give it a 9 out of 10, just because the script is a little unrealistic.

Hard Candy was a great movie... but to me it always stood out as a character study of mutual sickness rather than impressing a moral message towards either character.

You essentially have a cat and mouse game between a compulsive and wounded individual and an absolute sociopath.

Either way, Ellen Page does an absolutely amazing job at only 17.

I was told that it's sort of like the idea of little red riding hood versus the big bad wolf. I think that Ellen Page's character was more of a symbol of justice than anything else. She may have not been the perfect super-heroine, but I think she would be pretty high on the list.

Well the idea that is spread to the public and the theme of the movie is what i like most but i would not say it is the best way of empowering women in the society.........there are various other measures to encourage empowerment of women but i still like the theme and it is a message to those men who think women are nothing but slaves........All in all it should be 8/10 for the movie

This is supposed to be an insult? The Oscars is a joke, it's all about Hollywood politics, and if you give them enough money you can get any movie or person nominated. Kevin Smith found this out when he tried to get Michael Parks nominated for best actor in Red State, for them to consdider the nomination it would cost him $250,000.

How anyone can take this awards show seriously is laughable.

It's an excellent film, I'm not the biggest Ellen Page fan, I thought she was horrible in Super, but she was great in Hard Candy.

I thought David Slade was going to be a director to look out for, his follow up to Hard Candy was 30 Days Of Night which I enjoyed, then he went and made one of the Twilight films. Ugh.

Finally sat down and watched this movie. I'd heard so much about it. Friends raved about it. So, what did I think?

Eh! I like the idea of the tables being turned. I love how Page's character acts all smitten with Wilson's character. Is a great set up for what is to come. However, I just found the film dragged on way too much. I was actually more impressed with Wilson's role. Especially when he accepts he is about to be castrated and just goes quiet. His expressions and his silence spoke volumes. Page is good in her role. I just found myself more impressed with his role.
