Just yesterday a very talented Little Leaguer named Steven was struck by a car very near his house, on Long Island, New York. Steven is 12 years old and he wasn't wearing his helmet. Something that most kids his age seem to be doing lately. They feel it isn't cool to wear a helmet.

Steven was struck by the car with such force that he hit his head on the windshield and proceeded to tumble over the car and land in the street. People who first attended to him thought he was dead for sure. Steven was rushed to the local hospital and has had every test imaginable and nothing seriously wrong was found. He is now alert and able to communicate with his mom. The worst injuries he sustained were a fractured skull and a small blood clot on the back of his head. Thank goodness Steven will be alright.

But we can all learn from this near fatal accident, please just remember to tell your children to wear their helmets. You never know when or where and it's always good to be prepared. Steven was lucky, but lets make sure that no other child has to go through this in any neighborhood or corner of the world.
