Am I drowning in my own ego?
Honestly i can't tell
right now I couldn't tell heaven from hell
somehow walking these streets i feel brighter than the rest
feels like every kids dream
is it a dream?
what's become of my beloved mother?
your once lost soul is fading away
i see only a dim fraction of light
you've lost sight of what's matters most
your voice of reason has become just a whisper at the back of your head
these demons invade
Rape! I cry, Rape! Can't no one hear me?
can't anyone see?
little busy bees
either too tired to care
or they've seen enough to know a lost cause when they see one
are we lost or are we just having a nap?
tell me, does anybody know
the difference for when they are asleep from when they are dead?
Oh! mother what's become of you?
I'm surprised how this happens in this modern age
Handed down from one master to the next like a 19th century African slave
one brutal hand to an even worse one who rapes you with a smile on his face
where is your strength?
show me your face; Are you blind?
Mother, how I wish I could see your smile
I'm sure it would be a wonder like the love you've shown us
beautiful beasts, trees, the rift and it's countless lakes
indeed, your love has been great

As poverty degrades the land and illiteracy robs the soul, renders it speechless, so do the cultures clash to the beat of self destruction...."Rape! I cry Rape!" ...I love this poem!!!
