wind, blow her braided hair just a little bit further
watch as they sway in your breathe as they swayed, she wept
don’t cry willow dry your eyes willow
the wind whispers now, sweet songs love songs
that flow off the birds tongues.
how they say you are not alone
how they make your branches their home
as tears roll down her bark she says
in winter when you fly the leaves
on my branches die and i am left a lone again.
don’t cry willow dry your eyes willow
then out of a den crawled a furry friends
Mrs. fox and her three little cubs how they
howled at the wind and sang to willow their love
with your trunk you've made for us a shelter
you protect us from both beast and bad weather
if it were not for you where would me and my babies be
and as willow remembered the past she said
they will grow old and your will leave me
don’t cry willow dry your eyes willow
as Mr. farmer came to find some shade from the sun
he saw how low her weeping willow's hung
and so he thought to cheer her up with a song
as the breeze blew and the fox howled he begun
in the winter when i am cold to you alone do i go
for your wood I’m given heat even
the bed post where i sleep
in the summer you are my cover
from the rays shining in the days
and with a broken smile she replied
as flattering as this may be, your axe hurts me.
don’t cry willow dry your eyes willow
Mr. willow can never be your's
because he’s in his yard and you are in your's.
