Topic: House Republicans Vote to Throw 300,000 Kids off Food Stamps | |
---|---|
The work of House Republicans can be summarized by one sentence: "House Republicans thwart attempts to turn the USA into the United Socialist States of America." What does that have to do with the OP? Just showing how easy it is to slant a title to vilify people on one side of a political debate, which is what the title of this thread does. So, you don't care about the 300,000 Kids off Food Stamps? ![]() Do I immediately believe Jason Easley's characterization of what happened in Congress? No. His is an op-ed piece, not a news report. I will have to wait until I read actual news reports to figure out what is going on. Meanwhile, 300,000 kids will starve. ![]() |

Anyway, here is an excerpt from a CNN story: Boehner said earlier Thursday that he was confident that his so-called Plan B -- which would extend tax cuts that are set to expire at year's end for most people while allowing rates to increase to 1990s levels on income over $1 million -- would pass the House, and in the process put pressure on President Barack Obama and the Democratic-controlled Senate.
Although the House won't be voting on Boehner's Plan B, it is easy to see that Plan B would raise the tax rate paid by people who have incomes of $1 million or more. |
