Topic: The Lady in 4 inch heels | |
---|---|
A sad country song lulled through the smoke filled air. Regulars sat the bar sipping their Friday night blues away.
The bartender gazed at the clock on the wall, and then at the door. He sighed, and thought It's a quarter till nine, if things don't pick up soon, it was gonna be a long night. The cowboy in the back corner signaled for another crown and coke. As he delivers the drink, he fed the jute box once again, at least it was noise. The bell chimed as the door opened, in strutted a middle aged woman, in a tight dress and 4 inch heels, which made her about 5 ft 5. Her hair teased, her lips red,She walked up to the bar, lit a cigarette and said "Johnny give me a beer, and run me a tab", he obliged, she took the beer, and started interacting with everyone. All as if they were long lost friends, even though some she had never met. Before long the booze was flowing, people talking and dancing. She even pulled the cowboy in the corner onto the dance floor. Every one was having fun, they had just needed a spark. At 1 a.m. Johnny said"Ruth . . last call", The lady with the 4 inch heels, smiled, and said "Jack and Coke". At closing time, the lady in the 4 inch heels, let the cowboy settle her tab, and said "See you tomorrow night Johnny", as she took the cowboy home. Johnny smiled to himself, Ruth had again done what she did best. She Lived, She Laughed, She Loved. Several years down the road God would call Ruth home. Every time someone plays, "Queen of the Silver Dollar" he can't help but to smile and envision Ruth doing what she did best . . making everyone feel loved. |
