Someone here on Mingle told me that the 7th day Adventist Church did not believe that Jesus was God and that they were still waiting for the arrival of the Messiah , so I googled that and apparently that is not true.
They await his second coming like every other Christian. "In Common With Conservative Christians and the Historic Protestant Creeds, We Believe— 1. That God is the Sovereign Creator, upholder, and ruler of the universe, and that He is eternal, omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent. 2. That the Godhead, the Trinity, comprises God the Father, Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit. 3. That the Scriptures are the inspired revelation of God to men; and that the Bible is the sole rule of faith and practice. 4. That Jesus Christ is very God, and that He has existed with the Father from all eternity. 5. That the Holy Spirit is a personal being, sharing the attributes of deity with the Father and the Son. 6. That Christ, the Word of God, became incarnate through the miraculous conception and the virgin birth; and that He lived an absolutely sinless life here on earth. 7. That the vicarious, atoning death of Jesus Christ, once for all, is all-sufficient for the redemption of a lost race. 8. That Jesus Christ arose literally and bodily from the grave. 9. That He ascended literally and bodily into heaven. 10. That He now serves as our advocate in priestly ministry and mediation before the Father. 11. That He will return in a premillennial, personal, imminent second advent. 12. That man was created sinless, but by his subsequent fall entered a state of alienation and depravity. 13. That salvation through Christ is by grace alone, through faith in His blood. 14. That entrance upon the new life in Christ is by regeneration, or the new birth. 15. That man is justified by faith. 16. That man is sanctified by the indwelling Christ through the Holy Spirit. 17. That man will be glorified at the resurrection or translation of the saints, when the Lord returns. 18. That there will be a judgment of all men. 19. That the gospel is to be preached as a witness to all the world." |

I know all the different denominations have their little differences, but I think if I'm not mistaken the only real difference bout 7th day Adventists is they celebrate their Sabbath on Saturday if I'm not mistaken. The only denomination/group that I can think of that doesn't believe Jesus to be specifically God's son is Jehovah Witness, they believe him to be just a prophet. |

The believe in Jesus but in sabbath more.
Here they lay more emphasis on sabbath, not eating crayfish, snail and stuffs that don't bleed more than Jesus. In fact, they say if you aren't worshipping on saturday you doomed. Makes no sense. |

In fact, they say if you aren't worshipping on saturday you doomed. Makes no sense. Well we could worship every day and that should cover all the basis. Oh and they don't believe in working on the Sabbath either. I'll just take both Saturday and Sunday off that will suite me fine. |

By the calender Saturday is the 7th day of the week, and the Sabbath comes from God making the world in 6 days and resting on the 7th. Only in our society is Sunday the last day of the week, but in all technicalities Sunday is the first day. I'm not all to sure on what exactly their beliefs are like Muaness talking about the crayfish and what not. But just in the celebrating the Sabbath thing makes sense. |

I was working for a woman in her home, Home health care, and on Saturday she heard me using the washing machine. She asked me why I was washing clothes on Saturday. (It was against her religion.) I told her I was not washing the clothes. I said I just put them in the washing machine and turned it on. The machine was actually doing all the work.
She smiled. |

I don't believe it's specifically a law exactly. But the Sabbath is a day for rest and worship. A day to give to God for praise and of course to rest up for work in the coming week. I personally don't believe it entirely matters what day specifically one celebrates the Sabbath. Again, I feel God just did that so we would give at least one day to him and not worry about money, objects, work, this world basically. And just focus purely on him for just one day at least. Would keep people from just focusing on money and or getting more.. greed basically. |

The word translated into "work" from the scriptures on this. Actually is closer translated to "labor". As in working for money. House cleaning and all that or in this case doing laundry wouldn't fit into "laboring". Again, it's about the money and or not worrying about getting more money, ect. Again, greed lol. |

Yes again, in our society the week is Monday through Friday, then Sat and Sun are the "weekend" making them the last days of the week in our society. But again in all technicalities Sunday is the first day of the week, regardless of how our society is ran. |

Then she should have given me Sunday's off. But she needed 24 hour care.... so I was there every day. |

Oh and they don't believe in working on the Sabbath either. That is their major doctrine. However, they cook on saturdays... isn't that work? |

Look at the calender lol. The calender is Sunday - Saturday. Making Sunday first and Saturday the 7th. But in our society again, take school for instance. It's Monday - Friday for the week, then Saturday and Sunday for the weekEND. Which would then make Sunday the last day. |

Oh and they don't believe in working on the Sabbath either. That is their major doctrine. However, they cook on saturdays... isn't that work? Some people take that to extremes. Getting up and changing the channel on television could be called work. But I think "work" means like Cowboy said, labor for wages. |

Oh and they don't believe in working on the Sabbath either. That is their major doctrine. However, they cook on saturdays... isn't that work? Yes it is. But again the scripture more closely translates to "labor" which is working for money. House cleaning, cooking, ect would not fall into "labor", not speaking of maids. But just on a normal kind of aspect for the everyday kinda person. |

Exodus 34:21 New International Version (NIV) 21 “Six days you shall labor, but on the seventh day you shall rest; even during the plowing season and harvest you must rest. Here is an example of this from the New International Version. |

In fact, they say if you aren't worshipping on saturday you doomed. Makes no sense. They do not eat those, because they follow the old testament if I'm not mistaken. In the old testament it tells us not to eat of these beasts, because they are "unclean". Leviticus 11:26-28 26 The carcases of every beast which divideth the hoof, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the cud, are unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean. 27 And whatsoever goeth upon his paws, among all manner of beasts that go on all four, those are unclean unto you: whoso toucheth their carcase shall be unclean until the even. 28 And he that beareth the carcase of them shall wash his clothes, and be unclean until the even: they are unclean unto you. But this no longer applies to us. Because that is why God flooded the Earth. That is why Noah was told to only get pairs of certain animals. God was cleansing the world, not just from the sin, but also the uncleanliness it had gotten through the years. So now that it's been flooded and only the clean beasts were brought on the ark, there are no longer "unclean" beasts. |

So now that it's been flooded and only the clean beasts were brought on the ark, there are no longer "unclean" beasts. Dude, I think you need to double-check your logic. Mosaic law was given after the biblical flood, and Mosaic law says that certain animals are unclean. So, unclean animals existed after Noah's time. Also, I don't know why you quoted Leviticus 11:26-28 when those verses say nothing about crayfish and snails. Perhaps you meant to quote from Leviticus 11:9-12. These you may eat, of all that are in the waters. Everything in the waters that has fins and scales, whether in the seas or in the rivers, you may eat. But anything in the seas or the rivers that does not have fins and scales, of the swarming creatures in the waters and of the living creatures that are in the waters, is detestable to you. You shall regard them as detestable; you shall not eat any of their flesh, and you shall detest their carcasses. Everything in the waters that does not have fins and scales is detestable to you.
