This is a very heavy band but I stumbled on an audio visual experience of theirs that blew me out of the water.

Crack the Skye caught me by surprise and when I stumbled on this treasure I admit I had to download it. This is the next level above Metallica!

For those craving a heavy metal sound this band has outdone themselves. But the movie that goes with this helps explain the story. I stumbled on a video of the making of this album and it goes like this. The story is about Rasputin and the Czarina just before the fall of the Russian Bolsheviks. the Czarina Anastasia's brother dies mysteriously and Rasputin tries to retrieve his soul from the afterlife. Before he goes he gives Anastasia a warning she needs to leave while he saves her brother from death but she doesn't heed the warning. the Czar suspects Rasputin is behind the revolution and kills him but in death he manages to find the soul he was looking for in hell and fights Satan to get his soul back. The video part is like an old silent movie and reflects a tribute to old cinema of the past with the style of Dante's inferno while telling the story of the fall of the Czars.

This album is like Potato Chips. Listening to it once is not enough! Just the song Oblivion is just melodic, heavy, dark, and shows the talent these musicians possess!

Mastodon will stomp your mind! Trample your senses... And leave you with less than a fresh pine smell.

***WARNING*** This movie is just under an hour in length! Build one, light it, take a couple of whiffs off of it. Sit back, hit play, and prepare to get blown the EFF away!

***ADDITIONAL WARNING*** This is VERY HEAVY METAL. No it isn't grunting like Cannable Corpse. This is far heavier! And it may be far too heavy for some audience.

***ONE LAST WARNING*** Rasputin is run through with a sword in a very violent manner so if you are squeamish, well, I tried to warn you... Violence Warning!
