If this was a contest, I'd win hands down. I don't even remember all the weird stuff I've eaten. Fried scorpions on a stick Congealed water buffalo blood Fried grub worms Rancid fried grub worms Goat eyeballs (at a very fancy party given by the crown prince of Saudi Arabia) Haggis (not for the faint of heart!) And then I see people who won't even suck the head on a boiled crayfish ... sad really. <<< Faints. Were those eyes looking at you as you swallowed them? I had horse, in France, not told until after the fact.. kinda stringy and not real steaky tasting. Betcha that had you trotting off to the bidet ;-) Crayfish guts is an entree to the crayfish meat where i come from. Especially that yellow stuff that we refer to as the 'mustard' |

I tried a peanut oil fried tarantula in thailand. It was not what I thought it would taste like. It wasn't bad but one was enough.

I've had pigeon soup. I didn't find out until many years later that it wasn't chicken soup. The pigeons came from a pigeon farm, so no health risks.

Squirrel Pot Pie - Tasted Like Chicken Pot Pie. Brains and Eggs - No Not My Brains Pickled Pigs Feet Pickled Cow Tongue Looking back now I understand why I've been accused of having the gullet of buzzard. |

My next door neighbor gave me a jar of pickled pig's feet recently. It used to love them as a kid. Conch Fritters are my favorite way to eat conch but I do like conch conch chowder too. My mother made the best squirrel and dumplings as a kid. I didn't think it tasted anything like chicken. I've tried brains different ways but they all taste nasty to me. When I was in Thailand, Boonya, our guide and driver, told us about the strange things they eat ... ground spiders and such! I asked him about eating an elephant and he got all upset and told me how elephants were sacred, yada yada yada. I was just teasing him but I told him that I couldn't believe the people would just let thousands of pounds of fresh meat just lay there when they could have a BBQ for the whole village! He looked around to see if anyone was near and said, "Yeah, you're right!" |
