I believe Tool to be in a whole genre their own, though there are some similar apsects. They definately are that amazing tripped out sounding band, but also have the hard rock influence that propels them forward more than some other bands like them. Danny Carey can do just about anything with his drums, so my friends and I call him the Octopus; Justin Chancellor has a groove, and knows FX better than any sound freak; Adam Jones is surprisingly versitile for an autodidact (Self-taught) guitarist, going at various speeds and sounds that are just mind blowing; and of course Maynard: his voice can either pound you down with a heavy scream of emotion, or melt you like butter from the passion you sense from his lyrics, and soft vocal tones. :)
