If we drilled more and converted to Natural Gas for vehicles, it would greatly reduce our oil imports ... maybe down to nothing. But the Chinese and others would just take up the slack. The oil barons are not going to have any shortage of customers. |

The oil barons are not going to have any shortage of customers. We don't need any oil imports. The only reason we are buying oil from the Saudi's is because we made a deal (a contract, not a promise) to do so. That contract is about to end or be broken. We have enough of our own oil reserves to last us until 2041. The Chinese will be getting their oil from Russia until they learn how to drill deep for their own oil. The Middle east will be in chaos under the control of the Muslim brotherhood. |

That is ALREADY REFINED OIL. 29 years is time enough to refine MORE. They are also drilling here in Colorado. Colorado will be a major oil producing state. I watched a clip on the news just LAST NIGHT about the new method for drilling deep that will provide all the oil we need. |

Colorado has oil. So does Kansas and Wyoming.
We also have lots of gold. It just was too expensive to get. But when gold goes up to 3000 an ounce.... they will probably start getting it. I just got my gold metal detector this week. ![]() |

Here's the harsh reality:
The US oil reserve would perhaps be able to supply the "energy" needs till 2041. Our "plastics needs" are considerably higher(all plastics are made from oil) I'd venture to say, about 15yrs if you include plastics. As for gold, still a pretty much useless material in commercial/Industrial applications.... In doomsday scenarios, gold ain't worth squat IMO. |

He meant that we will be completely independent as far as all our oil needs go until 2041 just on the current refined oil we have in reserve. That is not counting the future oil we will produce. Gold will ALWAYS be worth something. It is used in technology, and there are other [classified] reasons why it has always been valuable and will always be valuable. In doomsday scenarios, NOTHING is likely to be worth squat. But that depends on the type of doomsday scenario you are talking about. |
