Tonight is the first time in almost a year that I do not have my son on a Sat night, so I get to party it up. The only thing is what exactly does a 38-year-old actually do to have fun? I was married for 10 years and haven't officially been "out on the town" in probably 15 years. I am not a club person and I don't really drink, so where does an odd ball person like myself go to have some fun and meet some women?

I understand how you feel. For years after my divorce I did not know what to do with myself on the few occasions I didn't have my kids. The last several years my ex and I have gone to an every other weekend custody with the kids so I have more time to myself. But, it's taken a long time for me to get used to it.

I am adjusting as well - it's been three weeks since my separation and this is the first time/night my kids are not home. I too am trying to adjust after a 9.5 year relationship. Legal battles haven't made it easy so tonight I am jut going to chillax and settle myself back to being me. biggrin

It took me years to figure out what I even liked to do without someone there to tell me.

well I think I know and can remember what I like - I was pretty dominant in my marriage and it was either 'you join or you lose out' especially since he wasn't interested in doing anything - even with the kids. I just need to get back out there for myself. I have tried to do things with the kids like snorkeling and boarding, but they are still a bit young. My eldest will be 9yrs soon and the youngest just turned 4yrs a few months back. They try and keep up but I find I need to pull back my reigns with them and keep to their pace. It's kewl - I get to see the world through their eyes... but now that I have 24 hours without them I can pick up my pace and do things at my speed... most of the time it's full throttle - however tonight is about chillin and watching a movie that I haven't been able to get to for the past two weeks *lol*

Just because you don't drink; doesn't mean you can't go to a bar or lounge to meet women. Unless you have a planned function like a singles get together; the best you can do at short notice is a bar, pub, or dance club.
