According to senior diplomatic sources, the US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may be targeted, but no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and "lockdown", under which movement is severely restricted.

I don't understand why nothing was done to protect our embassies.
I wonder if we will get any answers why nothing was done to keep our people from being murdered.

We could have had boots on the ground within 18 hours of the warnings.
I would like answers!

What good would they be if Hussein won't give them live ammo?

Guess they could make ugly faces at them and scare them away.

What 3AM phone call?

That was in reference to the 2008 debates where the candidates were arguing over who would be more prepared with a response to an act of war when they received the call at 3am

Guess we now know its not Obama.
Fundraising in Vegas and blowing off Netanyahu was more important than the security of our own nation and it's people.

Thos wouldn't have happened under President Reagan's, President Bush Sr.'s, President Bush Jr.'s watch. The first intel the plan would have benn bput in motion.

Not to mention Obama doesn't meet with his national security team very much and it's been weeks if not months because he is to busy partying. FUBO

This wasn't a news report but a blog post a comment from a reader.
Does anyone have a link to the information about the early warnings?

Just the Fact the 9/11 Anniversary was coming up ought to have been enough reason to severely increase Security!

We told you so
The Lowell Sun
Updated: 09/15/2012 07:01:05 AM EDT

On April 9, 2012, The Sun published an editorial headlined "Give and fake." It began as follows:

"Thanks for the $1.5 billion in U.S. foreign aid -- suckers! The Muslim Brotherhood seeking to take control of Egypt's unstable government in the upcoming election would never utter those words publicly, but we're inclined to believe the private chatter in Cairo is provoking alot of belly laughs -- at U.S. expense."

The editorial criticized President Barack Obama for releasing U.S. funds without conditions to the Muslim Brotherhood, an extremist group trying to gain credibility and leverage in the upcoming Egyptian elections. (It went on to win a majority of government seats.)

So how has the U.S. government been repaid? This week, after the murders of four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador in Libya, Muslim mobs attacked U.S. embassies in Cairo, Tunisia, Yemen, Bangladesh, Iraq, etc.

Did the Muslim Brotherhood raise a finger to call a halt to the attacks? Of course not. Instead, its Islamic leaders called for a million-man march to condemn America.

Sad to say, but the Arab world despises America more now under the Obama administration than it did during the Bush years.

President Obama's appeasement policy in dealing with Arab extremists has produced little respect and a lot of bloodshed.

U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, former Navy Seal Glen Doherty of Winchester, and two other Americans might still be alive today if the White House
had paid attention to the simmering, chaotic political landscape created by the Arab Spring. We helped the "mobs" dethrone American-controlled dictators only to wind up with less influence and less security than ever before.

Obama's Mideast policies have failed and left the United States out on a limb. Allies that we could seemingly count on for some support -- Saudi Arabia and Egypt -- have been shunted aside as the White House sought to get in bed with new religious-driven regimes that are turning out to be more vicious than those toppled. Even Israel has had enough of Obama's mixed messages. Despite Israeli pleadings for pre-emptive action against Iran's nuclear arms program, Obama has adopted a wait-and-see approach. Wait for what?
