I wonder, is not caring anymore the same as giving up? Its been a very long time since I loved somebody so I am not sure I even know the difference anymore. Giving up is not the same, giving up is having doubt and bitterness. Not caring is letting your heart be free and not under pressure. You are open to what may come when you dont care. When you give up you find reasons to doubt.

Giving up means you close yourself off to the possibility of a serious relationship. Not caring means you're still open but you don't care anymore if it comes along or not. I'm in the not caring category with you. I've seen people who have given up and I decided I don't want to be like that. oh Good I even had my self confused I will say this Ruth ,if you closed yourself off you would break a lot of mens hearts.

If the right person came along no doubt I would be a happy camper, but in the meantime I just go with the flow so to speak and enjoy not worrying about it anymore.

"Is the way it is" is a statement that things can not change, if you added, "at least for now" or "for the time being, anyway" that reflects hope. but saying, "is the way it is" (period) indicates no sense of change. Without change lies doubt.
