Im wondering if anyone on this thread can give me some advice. I have a adult cat, iv had him for one year. Although he is an adult, he pretty much adopted me, as he was abandoned, id feed him, then one day he decided to stay. The thing is, he is not eating in the last day or two, its his favorate food. He always gets excited come feeding time, yet yesterday he barely ate, he was lethargic, uninterested, and stayed on his cat bed all day, today I decided that maybe Ill call the vet, but my cat always goes outside and he seems sick. He will enter as he wishes, but something is not right with him. He is a good cat, I never have pets because im out most of the day. But iv grown to like the little furry fur ball. Im going tomorrow to the vet. I forgot to ask the vet what should be done until tomorrow? Does anyone have any suggestions?

He's an outdoor cat? Is he an older cat, or did you get him as a kitten?

He may have gotten into something and is sick from it. He could just be getting older.

I would just make sure he doesn't get into anything such as plants, no table food, strictly stick to cat food, and not the cheap stuff. I recommend a Purina brand, that's what I've always raised my cats on, and they have always had long and happy lives.

Is he acting strange, or just not eating? Is he "fixed"?

he has not been eating his favorate food. I also use purina, dry and moist food. I think you might be on to something, yesterday I checked his body, and it looked as if he was somewhere not usualy where he goes. Id like to keep him inside, but he will drive me nuts if I dont let him outside. My old neighbors abandoned him as an adult, so im not sure if he is fixed. Ill find out today. Thank you for your imput, because depending on the vets advice, ill have to monitor him more closely. And yes, he is an older cat.

If he's not fixed already, get him fixed, especially if you plan to keep him indoors for a while. That would probably be a good idea, just so you could monitor him and make sure he's ok.

My cat is around 14 years old or so, he has his days where he still thinks he's 14 weeks old, then he has days where he's reminded that he's not as young as he used to be. He has lost a lot of weight as he got older. My sisters cat is around 12 and she is an outdoor cat. She is doing pretty much the same as my cat.

They can also get tired of the same food, or he may be having trouble eating. Maybe mix it up a bit, try different flavors and such see if that helps. Maybe even mixing the wet and dry together or something, if you don't already do so.

Hopefully it's nothing serious.

TAKE HIM TO THE VET, GET A BLOOD TEST.

He could have a virus.

My favorite cat died of a feline virus two days ago. He was sick and I rushed him to the vet. He went into shock when the vet tried to take blood from his neck. He was having no part of that. Three of us could not hold him down. He was huge.

He died on the table.

He had a feline immune deficiency virus. Not leukemia. Your cat could have leukemia.

It's possible, but I wouldn't fear the worst just yet. Let the vet check him out and see if there is anything to worry about.
