read up on it. they don't worship satan at all. infact many of them don't believe in the idea of a god at all. they merely use satan as a symbol of not suppressing your inner desires.

the church of satan, especially...founded by anton lavey...who happened to be an atheist. he was also absolutely brilliant. there are many tenants of this church that i find appealing...

interestingly enough, lavey visualized "satan" as being the antithesis to THE CHURCH...not to god. satan is a the human self, and it's enemy is organized religion...the very reason for him CHOOSING to be called a "satanist" was to piss of the church.

i agree with you lulu. although i don't consider myself a satanist i live by most of the tenets except the part aboout us being our own gods but i can understand where he is coming from.

well...i understand where they are coming from. i'm more into the "do as you will an ye harm none" then "take what you want", myself...but i GET lavey. his family lived a soap opera...and they are SO fascinating.

one of his daughters left the church and founded her own...because she DOES believe in satan. hers is a bit more on the dark side, heh. he just wanted attention, and to be SEEN as dark.

in the end, he didn't quite succeed. couldn't wait til halloween to die...was two days short, lol.

i've done extensive research on anton lavey, read just about everything he's written...and even been in contact with one of the leaders of his church.
