The breadth and width of government is the new slavery on all of us.

EDIT: I agree with the previews of some movie coming out on this one.

Government has not evolved all that well.

Can't really blame them though, the population hasn't moved forward all that good either. Puppet master and all that jazz.

They are forced to be in business because we gave them the job of printing our money.

Money is for exchange. An entity can't really print money if they have nothing to exchange. Money is a receipt that represents an asset like goods or labor.

The purpose of government is to provide a system in which individuals give a portion of their freedom in order to pursue needs and wants without the fears that are inherent in a state of anarchy.

In an anarchic system, individuals must protect and provide completely for themselves, and those with greater power are able to offend those with lesser power without consequence. In a system of government, the freedom to acquire and offend at will is subjugated to the will of the governed; and, in return, the governed are better able to produce without fear of loss.

Therefore, at its most basic level, the purpose of government is to protect the people from threats, both within and without.

Then why are so many (even innocent law abiding) people today now in fear of their "government?"

There are so many law/ucc codes on the books that it would take 75 years just to read them.

You cannot obey them all without breaking some of them.

Its not a question of obeying the codes/laws but a question of who the government will decide to go after because they can pick anyone they want and charge them with a violation of some kind.

The government can take your home from you in civil action on just hearsay that you might have an illegal substance there or even growing in your back yard, then sell that property and give 25% of the money to the person who reported you and keep the rest for themselves.

The government can arrest you if you are suspected of being a "terrorist" and hold you without charging you and without the benefit of a lawyer. Now they can even legally torture you or "waterboard you."

I don't know about you, but I fear the government.
