Is it just me, but after 40 years with someone it's hard to adjust to a life without a partner,, Going to a garage sale has no meaning, casino with all those people yet you feel alone,,, anyone coping better then me ?

I'm not over 40, I'm 31, but been married and divorced twice. It feels weird to be in a relationship. Guess that's why my last one was 6 months ago and I haven't looked since.

40 years is a long time to be with someone. I don't know how long you've been single, but I would just be kind to yourself and don't expect it to feel normal for a while.

Have you thought about brand new activities that aren't laced with memories of what you used to do together? Maybe that would help you move forward but you have to be ready to move forward.

It's okay to just let yourself grieve and heal in due time. There are no rules.

I do not know how that feels. I empathize. I wish I had the correct sentence for this moment but I do not. All I can offer is a hug. flowerforyou

Being a widow of 5+ years, one of the hardest things for me was eating out alone.. It takes time to adapt, don't be in a hurry..flowerforyou

Changeing your lifestyle is always tough but slowly you develope new traditons and things feel more normal.

When I first had to do it I thought being alone for holidays would kill me now sometimes the peace and not having to kill myself doing all the work is a relief.

Having a circle of friends you can depend on takes effort but it is worth it not to be so dependent on one person making or breaking down your life.
