I'm a big fan of Lucky McKee's films- May, The Woods, and The Woman. And his thriller Red, with Brian Cox.

Dagon, loosely based on HP Lovecraft's The Shadow Over Innsmouth.

Madhouse '04
Wrong Turn
Wendigo
The Last Winter

The Hazing is a fun horror comedy that's like a cross between Night Of The Demons, and The Evil Dead.

Night Of The Living Dorks about a trio of dorks who die and come back as zombies.

Monster Man about 2 friends on a road trip terrorized by a deformed man in a monster truck.

The Attic Expeditions with Seth Green and Jefferey Combs.

The first Wrong Turn was crazy. The unrated version is better than the one released.

The second one was okay, I haven't bothered with 3 or 4.

I never saw it. Why does it seem like this movie could be released in the 80s? like Cabin Fever (2002). Oh wait...another good one.

Eli Roth is a big fan of 70's and 80's horror, he even put in a couple of songs from Last House On The Left into Cabin Fever's soundtrack.

If you want a film that really looks like it could be from the 80's The House Of The Devil. One of the best retro horror films I've seen.

Roth went from a bit part actor to following George Romero's career. I say bravo.

I have like two movies I'm checking already on this list next to 19 billion you already introduced to me. For some reason I wanna see Last House on the Left again. The House of the Devil is considered next in queue.

Roth was also a self-proclaimed gore expert haha, he provided the audio commentary for the 70's schlock gore-fest Bloodsucking Freaks. He's a horror fan through and through, and it shows from his movies and the commentaries he does. He's even the co founder of the production company Raw Nerve.

Satan's Little Helper was a pretty good romp.

Anyone seen any Dante Tomaselli films? Desecration, Horror, Satan's Playground?

I should add those to my "painful to sit through" thread. haha

Some more honorable mentions.

Dead End
Cube
Behind The Mask
Hatchet
Scrapbook
Inside
13 Game of Death
Calvaire (The Ordeal)

Satan's Little Helper was fun.

I saw Satan's Playground because I wanted to see Felissa Rose's return to horror. Um no comment. I didn't bother with the others.

Dude was obsessed with Sam Raimi's Evil Dead series with Bruce Campbell. He said he had a thirst for gore and comedy and that directors like Raimi (before Spiderman) and Peter Jackson (LOTR duh) pushed the boundaries for film to be really gory and actually funny. I think Guillermo del Toro said the same thing about Raimi's directing early on in his career. Oh yeah, Pans Labyrinth (2006) even though a "dark fantasy" I consider it horror. I think even del Toro said in a few interviews he was thinking of Dario Argento (Dawn of the Dead collabo with Romero) when making it. Very cool.

I also like Roth because we have similar tastes in horror, we both love Pieces. Haha

Pan's Labyrinth is excellent. And thought not from the 2000's I really like Del Toro's vampire film Cronos.

Speaking of Romero, I really like Diary Of The Dead, and I thought Land Of The Dead was a lot of fun...but he needs to do something else besides a zombie movie, I think he thinks those are the only movies of his recently that are going to attract an audience, but I wish he'd go back to something like Martin.

I tried talking to that dude (Eric Stanze I think) at Screamfest. I wanted to tell him how much his movies sucked. He was standing behind his cronies and was trying to communicate through them. I just walked away laughing. Funny as hell. Yeah...he had one called "Ice From The Sun" or something that was pretty bad. Scrapbook was the only one I kinda liked.

Oh wow. Someone else liked "Drag Me To Hell". I thought I was the only one. But I love pretty much everything Sam Raimi is involved with.

I liked Drag Me To Hell.

But if you're talking the original The Omen from the 70's, it's definitely not underrated, and is considered an American horror classic- for good reason, great movie. Now the second Omen I would consider underrated.

Infestation '09- A slacker awakes to find himself weak and wrapped in a webbing; after realizing that the world has been taken over by giant alien insects, he wakes a ragtag group of strangers and together they fight for survival.

Plague Town '08- An American family visiting their Irish roots accidentally stumbles on a horde of bloodthirsty mutant children.

Perkins' 14 '09- In the small town of Stone Cove, Maine, deputy sheriff Dwayne Hopper is on the night shift at the police station. He discovers that one of the prisoners in the holding cell is Ronald Perkins, a local pharmacist and a suspect in the disappearance of 14 children over the past 10 years, including Hopper's young son. Interrogating Perkins, Hopper learns that the mad pharmacist has built an army of 14 people brainwashed through cult-like methods to protect him from Perkins' parents' killers. Investigating, Hopper and the police unwittingly unleash his followers on the small town, and a night of terror beings as the 14 super-strong, zombie-like warriors wreck havoc with only one thing on their mind: "Kill for Mr. Perkins."

Albino Farm '09- College students exploring the Ozark Mountains for a school assignment, stumble upon a group of scary, redneck cave-dwellers.

Even though the movie itself is fictitious, it was inspired by a real location- Springlawn Farm aka Albino Farm: http://www.undergroundozarks.com/springlawn.html

Trespassers '06- Tyler is a surfer who constantly searches for good surfing spots. When he's traveling through Mexico, he finds one of the best places he has ever seen. He invites his brother Colin to join him and his friends in surfing the wild Mexican waves. Colin gathers 4 friends and leaves for Mexico but is surprised that nor his brother nor his brother's friends are there. They start realizing that there's something wrong with the beach, a curse that says that no one will leave the beach alive...

The 8th Plague '06- The 8th Plague is the story of a woman named Launa who is investigating the disappearance of her sister, Nikki. Nikki had gone camping in the mountain town of Halcyon Springs and never came back. Becoming more and more frustrated, Launa realizes that she must find her sister on her own with the help of Mason, a mysterious local man with a shadowed past. Their search leads them to an abandoned prison called Halcyon Ridge Correctional Facility. Very soon after arriving within the stone and steel walls they are exposed to an ancient evil that had been lying dormant until its recent disturbance. Subsequently they learn the terrible truth about what happened to Nikki as well as the impending plague of darkness that intends to spread and reclaim the world.

Session 9 meets The Evil Dead...kinda.

The Locals '03- Two best friends Grant and Paul hit the road for a weekend of surfing, booze and hopefully . . . girls. With night falling they take a short cut and meet Lisa and Kelly, a couple of babes with a fast car, who invite them to a party. Lust takes the wheel and a game of cat and mouse begins leading them deep into the heartland of evil where they meet...........The Locals.
