Mr. Farid N. Ghadry writes articles that are mostly propaganda and nothing he writes can be believed or taken seriously, but he always makes sure that he lets everyone know that he is the President of the "Reform Party of Syria." According to his biography, he and some of his American Syrian friends hatched the idea for this "party."

Mr. Farid N. Ghadry was born in Aleppo, Syria in June of 1954. The family emigrated to Lebanon because of political turmoil and settled in Beirut where Mr. Ghadry attended the Maristes Brothers School (Champville - Deek-el-Mehdi). In 1975 the Ghadry family, once again, emigrated to the US and settled in the suburbs of Washington DC.

Mr. Ghadry graduated from the American University in Washington DC in 1979 with a degree in Finance and Marketing. He worked at EG&G, Intertech, Inc., a subsidiary of EG&G, Inc., a Fortune 500 defense contractor, for two years before starting his own business in 1983 called International TechGroup, Inc. Mr. Ghadry sold his business in 1989 and has been involved in many entrepreneurial operations since.

Mr. Ghadry, because of his father’s work in Saudi Arabia, was granted the Saudi citizenship. That passport has been revoked since because of his public stand on the issue of democratic reforms in Saudi Arabia during the Iran-Contra in 1987 and in the last several years.

In October of 2001, Mr. Ghadry, along with several American-Syrians, hatched the idea of the Reform Party of Syria.

A constitution was written and a constructive and comprehensive program has been put in place to bring regime change to Syria. Today, the party is enjoying the tacit support from many organizations and people in the US administration and think tanks in Washington. We are active in lobbying the US Congress and cultivating the media.

Mr. Ghadry and the other co-founders of RPS are hoping to return to Syria one day to rebuild the country on the basis of principles of real economic and political reforms that will usher democracy, prosperity, freedom of expression, and human rights in addition to lasting peace with open borders with all of Syria’s neighboring countries.

Mr. Ghadry is married to Ahlam Ghadry and has four children.

Investigating the Reform Party of Syria I discover that Farid N. Ghadry (Frank Ghadry in the U.S.) is an Israel loving neocon and Zionist. (And probably even has a Jewish Mother, but this has not been confirmed.)

I should have known that Zionist Israel had to have their fingers in this regime change fiasco! But no, not just their fingers, they are up to their necks in this conflict and push for a regime change.

Why am I not surprised. frustrated frustrated

(I would have suggested it earlier at the risk of being called an “Israel bashing anti-semitic.” )

But, as it stands, this is where the information leads. Right back to Israel.

Leading this revolution's regime changing team are Zionists US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffery Feltman and US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro, former Lebanese Prime Minister Sa’ad Hariri, influential, US-based Zionist Syrian exiles Farid al-Ghadry and Ammar Abdulhamid, the well-connected ex-Syrian VP, Abdel-Halim Khaddam and of course, the powerful Syrian Muslim Brotherhood.

Even though Syria is not listed among the three members of the axis of evil named by U.S. President George W. Bush in his January 29, 2002, State of the Union address, ... there is no doubt that the neoconservative faction which currently controls U.S. foreign policy aspires to replace the Syrian regime of Bashar al-Assad with one more amenable to the U.S. and Israel.

Farid N. Ghadry (also Farid al-Ghadry and "Frank" Ghadry; the latter commonly used in the US) is co-founder and current president of the Reform Party of Syria (RPS), a "'US-based opposition party' of pro-democracy Syrians" and the president of the Syrian Democratic Coalition.

Ghadry is heavily involved with US-based neoconservatives, and is close to Liz Cheney and Wurmser.

Ghadry heads organizations, that despite their lofty sounding names, exist mostly in the United States and were created with an helping hand of several pro-Israeli organizations.

Ghadry is openly “pro-Israel” and positions his organizations with a similar allegiance; Ghadry is even a member of AIPAC.

(And yet he writes articles and opinion pieces as if he is a Syrian citizen and you would think he is living there if you read his words.)

He was born in Syria and, in 1964, at the age of 8, emigrated to Lebanon with his family. Ghadry came to the United States in 1975.

“Frank” Ghadry "graduated from the American University in Washington DC in 1979 with a degree in Finance and Marketing. He worked at EG&G, Intertech, Inc., the subsidiary of a Fortune 500 U.S. defense contractor, for two years before starting his own business in 1983 called International TechGroup, Inc.

Ghadry, because of his father's work, was granted Saudi citizenship. In September 2007 Ghadry's Syrian citizenship was revoked by Syrian president Bashar al-Assad after Ghadry appeared before Israel's Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee.

In other words, he was recognized as an Israeli plant and he is not a citizen of Syria anymore. They kicked him out and revoked his citizenship.

So now the pieces are really coming together. Zionism is on the move in Syria.

Again, that doesn't make much sense. Why would Israel want al Assad deposed when he made efforts to keep Hezbollah in check? Israel is watching this civil war with trepidation, as the weapons of the former Assad government may be turned toward the Golan Heights if the outcome results in an unfavourable regime change, as it did in Egypt. I don't think the above scenario has much merit.

Moscow may not be motivated by international altruism, but it is right to criticize the West for not having any political plan for Syria.

How does he know that the west does not have any political plan?

Well, think about it. The Russians would have their agents throughout the region, and so would the other nations with interests in this conflict.

Now, if the CIA were hoping to install a regime of their choice, the Russians would know this and they would capitalise on this within the Security Council. You can also imagine the diplomatic outcry from Tehran.

The fact that this has not occurred tends to make the CIA theory a little tendentious.

What do you suppose Abdul Halim Khaddam, and his henchmen are up to?
I think there is a group that wants back in, and may have something going on with the CIA. That's just a wild guess.

*********************************************

They claim they want to install a "democracy."

***********************************************

On January 14, 2006, Abdul Halim Khaddam announced he would form a government-in-exile that would take over power when the government of President Bashar Al Assad collapsed. He stated that he did not want to not want to oust the regime by military coup. A coup is the most dangerous type of reform, he said, “I am working to create the right atmosphere for the Syrian people to topple the regime.”

Khaddam expected the Syrian people to topple the Assad regime in 2006.

So What happened to his planned government-in-exile idea?

When asked if he was going to cooperate with the existing opposition forces or form a government of his own supporters, he said “I am working with different opposition forces which exist inside Syria and in exile. We are discussing the formation of a government-in-exile. Its main task will be to fill the power vacuum in the country and be in action after the collapse of the regime in Damascus.”

I am discussing my proposal directly with the leaders of opposition factions or through mediators. We are looking to foster and strengthen cooperation among different opposition factions, including Muslim Brotherhood, which are banned by law in Syria since 1980. We will announce a programme for a democratic change in Syria that will include all the topics and the issues to be handled by the opposition in the next stage.

We are working round-the-clock to set an executable plan to achieve our targets and to benefit from the blunders committed by the regime in recent years. The regime has handcuffed itself through a chain of fatal mistakes which will help the opposition overthrow the totalitarian regime and launch a democratic era.

The Reform Party of Syria (RPS) is a political party committed to democracy and reform in Syria. It is based in the United States because the Ba'athist Syrian regime does not allow opposition political parties to form without permission. The party is made up of Syrians living in America, Western Europe, and elsewhere. The party's leader, Farid Ghadry, was born in Aleppo, Syria and comes from a well-known Syrian family of civil servants and politicians.

I'm sure Khaddam has his eye on the Presidential seat. I don't doubt that for a moment, but the new government (if there is one at all) will require the sanction of the victorious rebel factions. My bet lies with the Muslim Brotherhood, or as they are outlawed in Syria, a newly formed party with a similar manifesto. However, there is another scenario, and that is the possibility of these factions fighting among themselves and creating a similar situation to Lebanon in the 70's and 80's.

The CIA proxy war in Syria and the pro-imperialist “left”

3 August 2012

Reports that US intelligence is giving covert assistance to “rebel” militias in Syria mark the latest stage in an escalating US campaign for an out-and-out takeover of the country.

Yesterday, as videos emerged showing Syrian “rebels” carrying out mass executions of soldiers captured in Aleppo, it was reported that US President Barack Obama had signed an order earlier this year authorizing US intelligence to aid anti-Assad forces. Washington is also helping to distribute weapons and money donated by its right-wing Middle East allies Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

These powers are not waging a struggle for democracy as part of the “Arab Spring”—the wave of revolutionary working class uprisings that toppled US-backed dictators in Tunisia and Egypt last year and terrified Washington and its Middle East allies. They are fighting a reactionary war to oust Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and install a pro-US puppet regime in Damascus.

Washington has set up a “nerve center” for the Syrian insurgency in Adana, Turkey, the site of Incirlik Air Base, a major US military and intelligence installation only 60 miles north of the Syrian border. This region of southern Turkey is now a key transit point for weapons and pro-US foreign fighters traveling to fight in Syria.

The Syrian “rebels” largely act on operational instructions from Washington. US forces communicate regularly through their allies with “rebel” forces inside Syria, providing them with reports on Syrian troop movements to guide them on the ground.

Islamist fighters are pouring in to join the fighting in Syria from around the Middle East, including US-occupied Afghanistan and Iraq and the Islamist US puppet regime in Libya, as well as Algeria, Chechnya and Pakistan. Former US Special Operations officials told the press that many arrive with help from Al Qaeda in Syria, which relies on the services of “traffickers—some ideologically aligned, some motivated by the money.”

In the Orwellian world of the American media, no attempt is made to reconcile Washington’s claims that it is occupying Afghanistan simply to wage a “war on terror” against Al Qaeda with its de facto alliance with Al Qaeda in Syria.

Obama’s reassurance that the US is providing only “non-lethal assistance” to anti-Assad forces is a cynical lie. The US is waging a brutal civil war by proxy that has already cost tens of thousands of lives and displaced hundreds of thousands of people.

Its goal is to install a US puppet regime in Damascus to isolate and prepare for war against Iran, remove a potential enemy of Israel, and advance a broader agenda of complete dominance of the Middle East by US imperialism. This agenda—pursued in the course of a decade of US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and intensified after last year’s mass uprisings in North Africa with wars in Libya and Syria—is deeply unpopular in the working class in the United States and internationally.

Washington’s covert backing for the Syrian “rebels” lays bare the role of pro-imperialist pseudo-left groups—like the International Socialist Organization (ISO) in the US, the Socialist Workers Party (SWP) in Britain and the New Anti-capitalist Party (NPA) in France—which have promoted the war in Syria. Their “leftism” amounts to nothing more than giving “left” justifications for the crimes of American and European imperialism.

The ISO openly declares its support for intervention. In an article by Yusuf Khalil and Lee Sustar in its Socialist Worker publication, it writes: “The increasing role of the armed struggle raises the question whether to accept arms and support from the West … While many in the Syrian revolutionary movement are opposed to US and Western intervention, they will take whatever help they can get.”

Such arguments, which never analyze the forces referred to as “revolutionary,” are stunningly cynical. When did the CIA, Islamic fundamentalism and the Turkish army brass become forces for liberation? In writing this way, the ISO makes clear that it speaks for the pro-imperialist faction of the “left” petty-bourgeoisie.

Its attempts to posture as a left-wing organization descend into absurdity. The main concern it raises about US intervention in Syria is that “US support will be aimed at promoting their people and marginalizing others, even if it means fragmenting the revolutionary forces.”

What “revolutionary forces” is Sustar talking about? They are a collection of militias including the CIA’s “people,” as he calls them, various Al Qaeda operatives, and the flotsam and jetsam of Syrian society that these forces have attracted to themselves. In seeking to conceal the reactionary character of these forces under the mantle of revolution, Sustar functions simply as one of the State Department’s more left-talking operatives.

Sustar goes on to praise the ISO as “principled anti-imperialists who have managed to walk and chew gum at the same time—to support the revolutions in Libya and Syria against dictatorial regimes, while at the same time opposing intervention by the US and its imperialist allies.”

This foul comment goes to the heart of the politics of the ISO and the entire petty-bourgeois pseudo-left. For Sustar, the ISO can “walk and chew gum” because it knows how to support imperialist wars while at the same time posturing as “left.”

The class orientation of an organization always finds its clearest expression in its international policy. In Syria, the ISO and its international co-thinkers are nothing less than political agencies of imperialism.

Extrapolating from the unknown and other secondary sources without citing a reputable news agency.

Most would call this an example of poor journalism.

Not once is a primary source cited and note the Spartan use of facts, liberally interspersed with extrapolation using language designed to inflame the reader. When one deletes the opinion in this piece and looks at the facts, we are left with the content of the NY Times article which I posted earlier in the thread. This NY Times article in no way supports these extrapolations.

So, let's have a look at some of the author's other journalistic contributions.

Syria crisis: Fighting rages ahead of UN Assembly vote

There has been renewed fighting in Syria ahead of a UN General Assembly vote condemning its own Security Council for failing to end the unrest.

The army has been shelling rebel positions in the largest city, Aleppo. There was also bloodshed in Hama and the capital, Damascus.

The aim of the UN resolution is to pressure the Security Council to act.

It follows the resignation of UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan and the failure of his six-point peace plan.

Correspondents say this is a clear recognition that the political process has failed.

'Build-up'

Fighting is continuing in Aleppo, where government forces have been trying to reclaim areas seized by the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the past two weeks.

On Friday, the FSA said it had taken 50% of the city. The claim could not be independently verified.

UN peacekeeping chief Herve Ladsous told the Security Council that UN observers in Aleppo were seeing "a considerable build-up of military means, where we have reason to believe that the main battle is about to start".

Activists say 170 people died across the country on Thursday - including dozens in Hama, to the south of Aleppo.

At least 15 people were reported killed when mortars hit a Palestinian refugee camp at Yarmouk, on the southern edge of the capital, Damascus, late on Thursday. Both sides blamed one another for the incident.

The shelling spilled over from neighbouring areas where government troops have been battling to dislodge rebels.

Activists say more than 20,000 people - mostly unarmed civilians - have died in 17 months of unrest.

Meanwhile three Russian warships are expected to dock in the Syrian port of Tartus in the coming days, according to Russia's Interfax news agency.

Each ship has 120 marines on board and armoured personnel carriers. The BBC's Daniel Sandford in Moscow says it is not clear if this is a show of strength, or part of an evacuation plan for Russian nationals.

Some 30,000 Russian citizens live in Syria, according to reports in the New York Times and Financial Times.

Text 'toned down'

Russia and China have blocked attempts in the UN Security Council to impose sanctions against Damascus.

The proposed General Assembly resolution requires only a simple majority of the 193-member General Assembly to pass.

But, unlike a Security Council vote, it will not be legally binding.

Drafted by Saudi Arabia, which openly supports the armed rebellion against President Bashar al-Assad's rule, the text condemns the Syrian government's use of "heavy weapons" and its failure to withdraw forces from civilian areas, as demanded by Mr Annan's peace initiative.

In an attempt to maximise votes, diplomats have toned down the wording of the text by dropping an explicit demand for President Assad to stand down, according to AFP.

"The aim is to increase pressure on the Assad government. We want as many people to back this [as possible] which is why some changes have been made," one Arab diplomat told the news agency.

France's UN ambassador, Gerard Araud, said it would show that Russia and China were in a "tiny minority" at the UN General Assembly.

Russia and China have vetoed resolutions on the crisis three times, citing opposition to any action which might be seen as regime change imposed from outside.

On Thursday Russian ambassador Vitaly Churkin said: "Those same countries who were pushing this resolution most actively are the countries who are providing weapons to the armed opposition groups."

Iran on Friday accused "interfering countries" of causing the failure of Kofi Annan's mission.

Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said those governments "were not satisfied with the efforts made by Annan to halt the shipment of arms into Syria and [to put an end] to terrorist acts".

He did not name any countries, but Tehran has in the past accused Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey of arming Syria's rebels in collusion with the US and Israel.

Meanwhile, British Foreign Secretary William Hague said the UK would send more "practical but non-lethal" help to rebel forces in the coming weeks.

Earlier, US media reported that US President Barack Obama had signed a covert order authorising support for Syrian rebels.

Mr Annan's six-point peace plan for Syria was intended to bring an end to the fighting. But it was never fully adhered to by either side and the violence has continued to escalate.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said he was in discussion with the Arab League to find a successor to "carry on this crucial peacemaking effort".

I particularly love this snippet:

"He did not name any countries, but Tehran has in the past accused Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey of arming Syria's rebels in collusion with the US and Israel."

Does Ramin Mehmanparast think everyone is naive enough to believe that Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar would co-operate with Israel?

What is happening in Syria is not a civil war.
what is it then, and where is your proof?

Israeli special forces, have been on the ground in Syria since August 2007. They are not "watching"--- they are the instigators. (They don't believe that Al Assad will "keep Hezbollah in check.)

Bashar al-Assad, along with the Islamic Resistance of Lebanon, the Islamic Republic of Iran and what is left of the Islamic Resistance of Gaza make up the counter-axis of resistance and they are standing in the way of Zionism and its aims of conquest.

The Zionist plot to take down Syria is dangerously close to coming to fruition; and that’s the reason we are hearing so much about Syria now, and because that is where the Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants all the attention focused on....For some reason.. (which means that he is doing something else somewhere and he does not want attention on that.)

Syria is under the heaviest fire it has ever been under; even heavier than the plot that the Israeli-Saudi partnership attempted to execute against Hafez al-Assad, Bashar’s father, from 1976-1982.

The National Endowment for Democracy (NED) have funded, armed and trained various opposition factions in Syria, spawning an army of ‘democracy-seeking activists’ ready to mobilize on command.

Leading this team are Zionists US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffery Feltman and US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro, former Lebanese Prime Minister Sa’ad Hariri, influential, US-based Zionist Syrian exiles Farid al-Ghadry and Ammar Abdulhamid, the well-connected ex-Syrian VP, Abdel-Halim Khaddam and of course, the powerful Syrian Muslim Brotherhood.

Israel, Saudi Arabia and America: are all demanding regime change in unison, and this is also all connected to Iran, but as always, it is about Zionism and its aims of conquest in the middle east.

There is a working relationship between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Al-Arabiya News, the Saudi propaganda outlet owned and run by the brother-in-law and son of ex-Saudi tyrant ‘King’ Fahd.

Netanyahu sent a message when in an interview, he announced offering his support to “protesters” in Syria by stating “the young people of Syria deserve a better future” and he went on with his usual diatribe against Syria for standing with Iran and Hezbollah. So you see, he believes that Syria stands with Hezbollah.

He also stated that it would be “bad for the people of Lebanon, bad for the people of Syria and bad for peace” if attention was shifted away from the unrest in Syria. (Which sounds like a threat.)

This rare interview was on July 20th between Al-Arabiya News and Netanyahu which exposed the public Israli-Saudi working relationship.

You could be right about the Muslim Brotherhood because they are right there working with the Zionists:

US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Jeffery Feltman and US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro, former Lebanese Prime Minister Sa’ad Hariri, influential, US-based Zionist Syrian exiles Farid al-Ghadry and Ammar Abdulhamid, the well-connected ex-Syrian VP, Abdel-Halim Khaddam.
